Inherently hygienic – Cleanroom-compatible HMI systems

R. STAHL HMI Systems offers a wide range of control and monitoring solutions for cleanrooms – also in explosion hazard areas

For use in cleanroom applications in the pharmaceutical industry and other sectors, R. STAHL offers HMI systems with control and monitoring solutions of various performance classes. The range extends from simple control devices for machine control to remote HMIs and thin clients with large displays, suitable for process control in complex requirements for plant visualization. All models can be used without special precautions in cleanroom environments. They do not restrict their classification according to relevant regulations, such as standardized procedures according to VDI Guideline 2038, the EU GMP guidelines, ISO 14644-1, or the provisions of other market- and industry-specific standards. All systems are available both in standard industrial versions and as variants for explosion hazard areas (Zones 2/22 or 1/21).

High-density pharma and cleanroom HMIs in protection classes up to IP66 are supplied by R. STAHL both as standalone solutions and in the form of complete wall-mounted units. For use in the highest category cleanrooms, wall installation is recommended so that the control systems do not interfere with airflow or accumulate particles. Static charges are excluded since all housings are made from conductive materials. Easy cleaning is guaranteed by the design of all devices without protruding edges, dead spaces, or dirt traps. HMIs with surfaces made of stainless steel or dirt-repellent polyester film for display and keyboard are available. Both withstand jet water and most cleaning or disinfectant agents. The stainless steel finish has an extremely low roughness depth of 0.8 µm (N6). As an alternative, anodized front frames and electropolished housing versions are available.

Depending on the specific application, different performance HMIs are sensible. The compact devices of the ET-3x6 / MT-3x6 series, for example, are designed for simple control and observation tasks and are particularly suitable for direct integration into machines. They communicate directly with PLC systems but can also be integrated into industrial Ethernet environments if needed. Thanks to their own operating system and integrated visualization software, the control devices greatly simplify engineering and save runtime license costs. For complex process visualizations realized via KVM or Thin Client technology, R. STAHL offers larger systems with displays measuring 15" to 24". In addition to classic 4:3 format types, these also include widescreen HMIs. These devices offer resolutions between 1024x768 and 1920x1200 pixels. To minimize the number of risky cable outlets, these high-performance systems are also available as WLAN variants.
