Digitalization does not stop at medical technology – quite the opposite. In addition to the very high requirements for the hygiene capability of display and input devices as well as housing surfaces, there is the great diversity of the required product variants. Here, WÖHR plays to its strengths for every customer: highly flexible component production for small and medium batch sizes. The basis for this is development expertise and touchscreen manufacturing based on in-house glass processing. WÖHR selects and combines various optical bonding technologies depending on the requirement, ensuring that the display and touch panels produced in-house provide a clear, sharp image, tailored sensitivity, and optimal hygiene capability. Technology and size are almost entirely freely selectable for each customer.

Design, material, and construction – foil or glass keyboards for medical technology must be designed from the outset with the hygiene requirements of the medical field in mind. Neither dust nor moisture may penetrate seams or housing edges. Seals and surface coatings are specifically adapted to withstand the harsh conditions of cleaning and disinfection cycles. Where many fingers touch a device, an antimicrobial surface, for example, prevents the transfer of germs. If a control unit is made entirely of smooth glass without edges, this sealed surface provides the best basis for the highest hygiene standards. For complete design freedom – and starting from just one piece – digital printing is an option. It allows all formats and sizes, without the need for complex printing film production or screen costs, enabling each part to be individually printed at manageable costs.

Fanless Cooling = Energy Saving + Hygienic

No one wants a “germ incubator,” especially not in medical technology! Here, passive cooling is the key to hygienic enclosure design. Because only without a fan can it be guaranteed that the enclosure does not distribute potentially contaminated air throughout the room. For hygienic cooling, WÖHR relies on technically sophisticated solutions that also use the enclosure as a heat sink. The design of the entire internal mechanics further helps prevent the spread of germs and bacteria. The motto here is “Stay cool instead of spreading dust.”

Through a very high degree of in-house production and a broad range of available materials and manufacturing processes, WÖHR ensures high availability and, in the long term, excellent delivery capability.
