“Optical Bonding” refers to a full-surface transparent liquid adhesive bonding of the touchscreen glass to the LCD panel, forming a sealed display unit. The bonded display eliminates the typical air gap between the display and the touchscreen glass. Optical Bonding has many advantages over conventional Air Gap Bonding:

- Multi-touch combined with Optical Bonding offers maximum brilliance and color reproduction with visible differences compared to conventional Air Gap Bonding
- Especially practical for production environments with critical lighting conditions is the reduced reflection. The bonded display has fewer interfaces where light reflections can occur, resulting in higher contrast.
- Multi-touch displays with Optical Bonding are more resistant and demonstrate a long lifespan because heat can be dissipated more effectively.
- Unwanted ingress of moisture and thus the formation of condensation between the display and the touchscreen glass are prevented.
- Optical disturbances caused by dust particles are avoided due to the elimination of the air gap.

For areas in the food manufacturing industry, it is recommended to additionally attach a front-laminated protective film. This can prevent the entry of glass splinters into the production environment, e.g., through a damaged display.
