Since 2009, stainless steel gear units from SEW-EURODRIVE have been providing movement wherever machines and systems require especially intensive cleaning. Thanks to their special housing design and the use of high-quality stainless steels, these drives meet the strict requirements in the hygiene sector.

SEW-EURODRIVE expanded its KES.. series of stainless steel gear units, which were specifically developed for demanding applications in the food and beverage industry, pharmaceutical industry, and other areas with particularly high hygiene requirements. The stainless steel gear units KES.. are largely designed in accordance with the guidelines and standards of EHEDG (European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group) and FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration). These bevel gear units are available with solid or hollow shafts (keyed, shrink disc, or TorqLOC®) and optionally with B5 flange.

A well-thought-out housing design characterizes the new stainless steel gear units, minimizing the accumulation of dirt and liquids and facilitating effective cleaning. By using high-quality stainless steel, the gear units are highly resistant to corrosion, acids, and alkalis, and demonstrate high durability against aggressive cleaning agents. These are important prerequisites for long-term and reliable performance, even in harsh production environments.

New to the product range are the highly efficient bevel gear units KES..67, with a maximum output torque of 870 Nm. This size features a particularly smooth, hygienic surface that simplifies cleaning and maintenance. Additionally, the stainless steel gear units meet the strict requirements of protection class IP69K, making them suitable for use in areas where complete dust and water tightness are required.

Thanks to their modular design, SEW-EURODRIVE's stainless steel gear units can be flexibly adapted to various motor types — suitable for both IEC and NEMA applications. This allows for reliable operation of even complex machinery and system setups. These gear units are especially used in packaging and filling technology, for example in beverage filling lines. Through continuous product optimization, SEW-EURODRIVE ensures that customers in particularly hygiene-sensitive industries are always equipped with reliable and future-proof drive solutions.
