Highlights and new features in the diverse technical program
POWTECH 2023
The technical program of POWTECH 2023, the international trade fair for process engineering around handling and manufacturing of powders, solids, and liquids from September 26 to 28, 2023, is more diverse than ever before. A special exhibition by the VDMA, focusing among other things on resource-saving solutions, is celebrating its premiere. The expert forum stagetalks is even offered twice this time: The expert forum stagetalks I addresses all POWTECH visitor industries, while the expert forum stagetalks II features pharmaceutical process engineering providers for the first time in separate topic blocks, showcasing their solutions. Startups will have a dedicated stage, and there are special highlights for students this time as well. And for those who want to experience a live explosion under safe conditions, there are two opportunities daily.
POWTECH 2023 promises to be especially interesting. As usual, numerous national and international companies will present the latest solutions in process engineering. The trade fair explicitly includes integrated processing of solids, semi-finished products, and liquids. Visitors come from a variety of industries, primarily the chemical and cosmetics industries, food and feed industries, pharmaceutical industry, and battery sector. In conjunction with the PARTEC Congress, the fair provides scientifically based know-how in particle technology.
3 days of concentrated expert knowledge
But it’s not just the exhibition and congress that attract visitors. Complementing this, the diverse special program provides strong impulses for innovations across various bulk material processing industries on all three days of the fair. Some new features are being presented for the first time:
The VDMA special exhibition in Hall 2, Stand 2-204 offers insights into the process chain of the bulk material industry – from mechanical and thermal processes as well as pneumatic technology. In addition to a wide range of exhibits enabling efficient, resource-saving solutions, the special exhibition also addresses current challenges such as the revision of TA Luft and the shortage of skilled workers. Visitors can discuss these and other topics such as the trend “Biologization of Industry” with VDMA representatives.
At the joint stand "Innovation made in Germany" in Hall 4, Stand 4-453, German startups and young companies use the platform to promote their innovations and engage with interested visitors. The offerings range from heat pumps and creative sealing and mixing systems to coating technology for micro powders and dust protection systems, as well as digital solutions like process analysis, live dashboards, process simulation, and digital twins.
The POWTECH Campus Pavilion in Hall 1 features renowned universities and colleges. It is a direct contact point for students who want to experience the world of process engineering live and get to know potential employers. Support is also available in finding topics for bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral theses. The focus is on Student’s Day on Thursday. Students have the opportunity to experience POWTECH via a digital guided tour. All participants who successfully complete the tour have a chance to win an EVENTIM voucher.
Live demonstrations on explosion protection are a crowd puller at every POWTECH. Demonstrations of explosions on real industrial plants by the REMBE Research + Technology Center have a tradition at POWTECH. Spectators can feel the effects and learn how protection systems work: twice daily – at 12:00 and 16:00 (Thursday already at 15:00).
Knowledge-to-go in the stagetalks expert forum
High-quality lectures, concentrated in 30-minute intervals, on various POWTECH topics are offered by the two stagetalks expert forums in Hall 4 – daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The Expert Forum stagetalks I at Stand 4-100 focuses on practical solutions for food and new food production on Tuesday morning. In the afternoon, experts from exhibiting companies at POWTECH will present how they support process optimization and pave the way to Industry 4.0.
Wednesday morning is dedicated again to the concerns of the food industry under the motto “Food goes Powder”. From 1:00 p.m., the speakers will highlight topics related to the POWTECH focus “Fluids meet Solids”, showcase in the “Future Energies” segment how high-performance battery materials are produced, and provide insights into “Perfection in the Supply Chain”.
The themes “Sustainability, Safety, and Security” form the red thread through the lectures on Thursday morning. From 2:00 p.m., the results of a survey on skilled labor shortages will be presented.
At the Expert Forum stagetalks II at Stand 4-325, a major topic block – daily from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. – focuses on pharmaceutical production. The program was primarily compiled by the APV – Working Group Pharmaceutical Process Engineering, one of the ideological sponsors of POWTECH. On Tuesday, the focus is on “Development and Manufacturing”, on Wednesday on “Fill & Finish and Lyophilization”, and on Thursday on “Analytics and Characterization”. In the afternoons from 2:00 p.m., the stage is open for all other POWTECH topics, with even more input on “Fluids meet Solids”, particle technology for the battery and pharmaceutical industries, as well as possibilities for process optimization and Industry 4.0.
