Practical robotics training for Austria: Since May 2021, the Innsbruck Center for Production, Robotics & Automation has been an authorized training center of Universal Robots (UR). The center is a joint initiative of the Entrepreneurial University® and the Industrial Association (IV) Tyrol. The market leader in cobots from Odense, Denmark, aims to make access to automation even easier for SMEs in Austria with its on-site training offerings. The requirements for authorization included suitable training hardware as well as certified, professionally and didactically experienced trainers.

"Our training courses enable all participants to gain solid robotics knowledge. From the basics of programming in the core courses to implementing a complex cobot application: in all trainings, we focus on practical knowledge transfer and highest quality," explains Benjamin Massow, Head of the Center for Production, Robotics & Automation.

Training Center in Tyrol: International Quality, Regional Support

"We are very pleased that companies in Austria now have a highly qualified local contact person for robotics training thanks to our cooperation," says Andrea Alboni, General Manager Western Europe at Universal Robots. "To participate in a UR training, they do not have to send their qualified specialists to Vienna or abroad. This way, they can quickly return to their company in case of emergency and still build a solid robotics knowledge."

"Starting from Zero": New Courses in Autumn and Winter

Interested parties can soon form their own opinion by participating in one of the many workshops. The training center will offer new UR courses in autumn and winter 2021. The program will include, among other things, core training sessions and unboxing workshops, where robot systems are unpacked, tested, and programmed. Benjamin Massow knows what participants can expect: "Users attend this course with no prior knowledge whatsoever, and half a day later, they have initial ideas for their own cobot application."

MCI and Universal Robots – Partnership for Industry 4.0

Universal Robots and the Center for Robotics, Production & Automation at MCI in Innsbruck have been cooperating since 2020. The goal is to support companies in implementing new technologies. It aims to show companies and students the opportunities that innovative technologies and methodological approaches offer within smart production. The partners are implementing this project together with Schmachtl, an Austrian distributor of Universal Robots, and are holding events, workshops, and seminars on the MCI campus. Additionally, joint research projects are planned in which companies can utilize collaborative robots from UR.
