Green Hospital – A challenge for health and the future

The VDI Expert Forum is organized by the VDI Society for Technologies of Life Sciences (VDI-TLS) in cooperation with the VDI Society for Building and Building Services Engineering (VDI-GBG) and the VDI Center for Resource Efficiency GmbH (VDI ZRE).

Research and development on the topic of "Green Hospital" are becoming increasingly central not only in the healthcare industry but also touch on areas from A to Z, such as architecture, facility management, hygiene management, medical technology, quality assurance, resource efficiency, and civil risk management.

The VDI recognizes the innovative potential of this cross-sectional topic and contributes to ensuring that Germany takes a pioneering role in efficient and sustainable hospital management both nationally and internationally.

Together with its volunteer experts, the VDI plans to establish a VDI Technical Committee to promote constructive and goal-oriented interdisciplinary collaboration among actors from various scientific disciplines. With its established professional societies "Building and Building Services Engineering (VDI-GBG)" and "Technologies of Life Sciences (VDI-TLS)" as well as the "VDI Center for Resource Efficiency GmbH," the VDI provides the ideal platform for this.

With approximately 150,000 members, the VDI also represents a major knowledge multiplier that brings this future-oriented topic closer to the stakeholders. With the help of volunteer experts, VDI guidelines are to be developed in the future, clarifying regulatory-relevant aspects with high binding authority and thus providing all involved actors with action and planning security. VDI guidelines describe the state of science and technology, create safety and trust, and thus form the basis for optimized hospital management.
