Glamox, a globally leading provider of lighting solutions, introduces the C61, a luminaire family designed for cleanrooms and hygienically sensitive work areas. From particle cleanliness in cleanrooms to registration as a medical device, the C61 has been developed for applications where hygiene, safety, and reliable contamination control are critical. These include healthcare facilities, the pharmaceutical and electronics industries, and food production. The luminaire has now been tested by the Fraunhofer Institute IPA and achieves a cleanroom class 1 according to ISO 14644-1 in terms of particle emission.

With the C61 luminaire family, Glamox presents another building block of their lighting concepts for healthcare, as described in the recently published healthcare brochure. It has been specifically developed for environments with high requirements for cleanliness, operational safety, and light quality.

Hygiene and safety in focus

The C61 series combines versatility and performance in an elegant, frameless design. It is available in various sizes with ceiling-mounted and surface-mounted options and offers a wide selection of optics and accessories. The frameless design prevents hard-to-reach areas where dust and contaminants can accumulate. Smooth surfaces facilitate cleaning, while resistance to aggressive cleaning agents supports use in demanding hygiene environments. With an IP65 protection rating, the C61 is also protected against dust and moisture ingress.

Flexible equipment for different applications

Various covers and optics enable targeted adaptation to specific operating conditions. Glass covers provide a smooth, easy-to-clean surface. For applications where glass is restricted, such as in the food industry, a impact-resistant polycarbonate cover meeting IK08 standards is available. Additionally, the C61 complies with hygiene and food safety requirements according to HACCP.

Microprismatic optics ensure glare-free lighting with a UGR value below 19. Opal covers alternatively provide evenly diffused light and are suitable for general room applications.

Highest quality, certified compliance with standards

The C61 combines not only the proven light and processing quality of Glamox luminaires but also safety certified by the Fraunhofer Institute for demanding environments. It achieves a cleanroom class 1 according to ISO 14644-1 in terms of particle emission. Furthermore, it received a very good rating for ease of cleaning and meets hygienic design requirements according to GMP-C.

Manufacturing is carried out according to ISO 13485, the standard for quality management systems in the medical device sector. Additionally, the C61 is ENEC-certified and registered as a medical device in EUDAMED.

These certified features provide a reliable basis for use in healthcare, the pharmaceutical industry, and other controlled environments.
