The most important prerequisite for working in the laboratory is hygiene. This applies not only to the cleanroom environment – but equally to biotech, chemistry, healthcare, and medical technology. The equipment of laboratories is subject to requirements that are probably unmatched by any other industry. In hardly any other work area can contamination have such a significant impact on work results – contamination must therefore be avoided at all costs! The design of a perfectly suitable laboratory chair always aims to create optimal hygienic conditions. Bimos meets this challenge in various ways.

Hygiene begins with seamless design

When talking about hygiene in the laboratory, it naturally also involves dust and visible dirt – but even more dangerous are contaminants that cannot be seen with the naked eye. To make daily cleaning of a laboratory chair simple and thorough, it should have as few hard-to-reach areas as possible where residues could settle. Therefore, Bimos laboratory chairs, lab stools, and standing aids are primarily characterized by seamless design. At Bimos, not only the design but also the functionality and usability of the innovative laboratory and work chairs are incorporated into hygienic design: to ensure the best hygienic conditions, for example, Labster from Bimos features not only a seamless design but also a washable soft cover covering the fully concealed manually adjustable chair mechanics. Additionally, self-adjusting ergonomic features relieve the body during laboratory work and support it optimally.

The laboratory chair and the question of material

Bimos laboratory chairs with hygienic design are characterized by clear shapes and a streamlined material concept. This must withstand the high demands of daily laboratory work – often involving many different users. As high-traffic and heavily used work chairs, they should not only be fundamentally robust; the surfaces must also allow thorough cleaning, be washable, and simultaneously resistant to all common chemicals as well as disinfectants and cleaning agents. To prevent laboratory chairs from unintentionally leaving the department and possibly spreading germs, the laboratory chair Labsit features an optional label in the back handle: the Labclip. This allows for individual labeling, enabling the laboratory chair to be clearly assigned to specific departments and areas of use. The Supertec back cushions of the Neon work chair can also be customized with individual markings.

An often underestimated factor in the field of laboratory hygiene is the topic of ESD (Electrostatic Discharge). In the laboratory environment, static electricity can cause charged persons or objects to attract tiny dirt particles, which settle, stick, and as contaminants, influence the test results. To meet the special requirements for use in the laboratory and set standards in hygiene, Bimos laboratory chairs are also available in ESD-compliant versions: possible seat cushions, steel parts, plastics, casters, and gliders are conductive, ensuring optimal protection of the work results.
