Gerresheimer opens its first development center in China

Gerresheimer AG, one of the world's leading partners in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry, is opening a new development center for medical plastic systems in Dongguan City, China. With this, Gerresheimer now has three such centers located in Wackersdorf, Germany, Peachtree City, United States, and now also in China.

"Our development centers are an important unique selling point for us and offer significant added value for our customers. The new development center in China ensures that we can optimally cover the growing demand in the Asian market. In the future, in addition to local production, we will also carry out development work in close collaboration with our customers on site," explains Andreas Schütte, Board Member for Plastics & Devices at Gerresheimer.

In the new Technical Competence Center (TCC) in China, large projects are independently handled and supervised on site. In Gerresheimer's three global development centers, the industrialization of medical plastic systems such as insulin pens, inhalers, lancets, or autoinjectors is being prepared. All key cross-sectional functions are consolidated there until the product is transferred to series production. Project work on site or in collaboration with other locations includes project steps such as series and tooling design, process development, project management, quality planning, toolmaking, automation technology, manufacturing initiation, and pre-series production.

Since 2006, Gerresheimer has been producing products for drug delivery, such as inhalers, lancets for diabetics, and infusion products, at its plant in Dongguan City.
