GEMA weighs Surface Technology Center

It has only been five years since the opening of GEMÜ's European production and logistics center in Kupferzell, and once again there is reason to celebrate: GEMÜ is opening another building. In June, the inauguration of the new Surface Technology Center (short: OTZ) was held in a small circle with the construction participants. Another milestone in GEMÜ's history.

In the second construction phase, 4,000 square meters have now been developed. The production and logistics bring together all competencies in surface technology, such as grinding and welding, as well as the completely new area of electropolishing including galvanizing. By strengthening the core competencies within the company, better evaluation and optimization possibilities for the produced surfaces are created. Despite capacity expansion, throughput times and communication channels remain short, and the new work steps are carried out hand in hand with other trades. This optimizes the process chain through deeper integration of surface inspection, cleaning, pickling, and E-polishing into the production processes. Media can be monitored analytically in the company's own chemical laboratory. "The goal is to elevate surface treatment to a new level and to redefine core competencies," says Gert Müller.

Customers also benefit from broader knowledge and consulting expertise. "Those who do not focus on quality are betting on the wrong horse," says Gert Müller.
