For some time now, gas-tight air shut-off dampers from RICO Sicherheitstechnik AG have been used in the isolator systems of Franz Ziel GmbH. These are especially important in cleanroom and isolator technology, as hazardous substances often must not leave the work area or germs and bacteria must not enter from outside. Particularly in the pharmaceutical industry or in food production, the purity and hygiene of processes are of the highest priority. Therefore, before starting processes such as aseptic applications, the interior of the isolators is sterilized with an H2O2 gas sterilization system. "It is precisely at this point that it is important to ensure 100% gas tightness," explains Frank Gerling, who is responsible for sales and marketing at Franz Ziel. This is ensured in the technical area, on the supply and exhaust air sides, by the stainless steel design of the gas-tight air shut-off dampers from RICO. On one side, they can regulate the airflow in the ventilation duct, and on the other side, they can securely close the line 100%. When installed, the shut-off dampers can be checked as needed by customers using a hand pump and manometer — this is ensured by RICO's so-called PERFEKT system for the dampers. Before commissioning, all systems developed and manufactured by Franz Ziel GmbH undergo a pressure test that simultaneously checks the tightness of the dampers, allowing leaks to be detected immediately. Frank Gerling praises that the shut-off dampers from RICO Sicherheitstechnik AG can be installed independently by Franz Ziel and are almost maintenance-free. Additionally, the company can always rely on competent support from RICO.
