From the idea to the real molded part

Representation of the product development cycle

On November 8, 2018, the Kunststoff-Zentrum in Leipzig (KUZ) will host the second Forum Micro Injection Molding. Under the motto "From the Idea to the Actual Part," the conference offers a comprehensive overview of possibilities for micro component manufacturing from plastics.

Lectures

Product development, toolmaking, injection molding processing, and tests tailored to the specific requirements will be discussed. In eight technical presentations, the requirements for the component design with adjusted molding-to-part ratio, the selection of suitable machine technology, and the necessary production environment for manufacturing will be explored. Speakers from renowned companies such as Gerresheimer, Ersa, Viaoptic, and ETA SA will provide insights into their micro component manufacturing processes and concretely demonstrate the journey from idea to finished part.

Workshops

Two workshops will illustrate the challenges involved. First, the production of interesting sample parts will be demonstrated live using machine technology at the Application Center for Microplastics Technologies (MiKA). In another workshop, representatives from Keyence and Werth will present suitable testing methods for evaluating micro contours.

The Micro Injection Molding Forum accompanies participants throughout the entire product development cycle and conveys essential aspects of the manufacturing process, as small dimensions require the highest precision in micro component manufacturing. During this event, participants will be provided with an open platform for intensive exchange with industry experts.
