Freely configurable: igus linear table made of stainless steel for extreme environments

One of the 166 innovations that igus is presenting at Hannover Messe 2017 is the drylin SHT spindle linear table made of stainless steel. In addition to the plastics optimized for friction and wear, which can be selected from various materials depending on the application, the linear table is completely made of stainless steel. This makes the drylin SHT-ES interesting for use in the food industry as well as for high-temperature applications. Users can also customize the new linear table individually using the new drylin SHT configurator.

drylin SHT – under this designation, the motion plastics specialist igus has been offering its customers spindle linear tables for over ten years, providing very precise and quiet adjustments with high robustness at the same time. To expand its range, igus now also offers a stainless steel version. All components—from the spindle, through shafts and carriages, to the traverses—are made entirely of V2A stainless steel. The moving parts are supported with tribo-optimized plastics. Users can choose, for example, iglidur X, which allows the linear table to be used in applications up to 200°C and is also highly resistant to chemicals, or the food-safe material iglidur A180 for use in food and packaging technology. Like all igus products, the new spindle linear table operates completely without external lubrication. And, as with all drylin linear tables, the modular design, the freedom to choose the stroke length, and the optional drive via handwheel or motor always ensure a suitable, ready-to-install solution. The drive pin can also be equipped with pins, grooves, or key surfaces depending on customer requirements.

Variety made easy with the drylin SHT online configurator

The new spindle linear table is available in four different sizes (shaft diameters of 8, 12, 20, and 30 millimeters). For the thread, users can choose between self-locking trapezoidal and high-speed steep threads, each with pitches from 2 to 100 millimeters and either right-hand, left-hand, or counter-clockwise threads. "To keep track of all these options and find the best individual combination, customers can now use the new drylin SHT configurator," explains Stefan Niermann, Head of the drylin linear and drive technology business unit at igus. "This practical online tool shortens the selection, configuration, and ordering process of the linear table to just a few clicks." After making their selection, users receive both detailed documentation of their choice and a 3D view of their configured linear table (also available in STEP format for download), along with immediate pricing and delivery time before being directed to the shopping cart. For even more demanding environments, igus is currently developing a version of the drylin SHT-ES made from extremely corrosion- and acid-resistant V4A.
