Fourth branch opened in Germany
Vierte Tochtergesellschaft in Deutschland eröffnet
ENGEL AUSTRIA has further strengthened its presence in Germany. After less than a year of planning and construction, the injection moulding machine manufacturer and automation expert, headquartered in Schwertberg/Austria, inaugurated its new sales and service branch in Wurmberg near Stuttgart on April 19th, together with customers and partners. Overall, ENGEL invested around 5 million euros in its new location.
"Germany is our most important market. Here, we generate about a quarter of our global sales," said Dr. Peter Neumann, CEO of ENGEL Holding, during the opening ceremony attended by 130 guests. "Over the past few years, we have continuously expanded our market share in Germany. Our investment in southern Germany reflects this growth." Besides Nuremberg, Hagen, and Hanover, the ENGEL Deutschland GmbH Technology Forum Stuttgart, located in Wurmberg, is already the fourth branch in Germany. 22 employees for sales and application technology, training, service, and energy consulting are starting out. In the medium term, ENGEL aims to continue growing in Wurmberg.
Communication hub for the injection moulding industry
"Our goal is to establish ourselves as an information and communication hub for our customers in southwestern Germany," said Claus Wilde, Head of ENGEL Deutschland Technology Forum Stuttgart. The 700-square-meter technical centre is the largest of any ENGEL branch. It offers space for seven automated production cells, available for demonstrations, trials, and training. The exhibits change in line with the extensive seminar and workshop program. "With each visit, we can present new applications to our customers and guests," Wilde explains. Energy efficiency and lightweight construction are two current focal points, playing a central role in the highly technology-driven industry of southwestern Germany. Many globally leading automotive suppliers are based in Baden-Württemberg, along with prominent research institutes such as the Fraunhofer Institute in Pfinztal, with which ENGEL has collaborated for many years in the field of fibre composite technologies.
An additional location advantage of Wurmberg is its direct connection to the A8 motorway. "We have significantly shortened the route to ENGEL for our customers in southwestern Germany," Wilde states. "Proximity to customers is increasingly important as a success factor. Many plastics processors are moving away from standard machines towards complex and technologically demanding system solutions, which requires closer collaboration between plastics processors and system suppliers."
Situated in the new Dachstein industrial area, ENGEL in Wurmberg has the best conditions for further growth plans. "From the very beginning, we felt at home here and received excellent support from the community and Mayor Jörg-Michael Teply," Wilde says. "Wurmberg needs strong partners," emphasized Teply in his welcoming speech. "Especially as a small community, we must be particularly innovative. ENGEL fits very well with us."
