For applications with increased cleanliness requirements such as in fuel injection systems and automotive safety systems, Pöppelmann manufactures protective elements in a new cleanroom. The caps and plugs from the KAPSTO product line protect the interior and exterior contours of sensitive, safety-critical, and functionally decisive components from mechanical damage and contamination. When delivering the parts, it is important to adhere to the cleanliness standards agreed upon with the customer, as even minimal particle contamination can potentially lead to production failures.

In view of advancing miniaturization in industrial manufacturing, microscopically small particles, which are ubiquitous under normal production conditions, can cause serious malfunctions. By manufacturing in a cleanroom environment and implementing tailored logistics, Pöppelmann reduces the number and size of such particles to strict limits. Regular sampling and documented particle analyses according to VDA Volume 19 and ISO 16232 ensure this increasingly important quality feature of injection-molded parts across many industries.

In the climate-controlled cleanroom, a continuous positive pressure prevails. The supply air is drawn through filters and subsequently humidified. A central negative pressure material suction system with dust extraction function supplies the injection molding machines with type-specific raw material. Robots remove the protective elements directly from the injection mold and place them into collection containers lined with foil bags. Ionization bars reduce electrostatic charging.

Gravimetric analysis and automatic classification with the stereomicroscope confirm that the particle contamination of the finished parts remains within the project-specific agreed limits and that the requirements regarding maximum particle size are met. The protective elements are packaged according to the desired quantity in foil bags with zip closures, which are then grouped into larger containers and shipped in foil-lined boxes.
