Flow Visualization 4.0

That virtual reality technology is playing an increasingly important role even in cleanrooms was clearly demonstrated at Cleanzone. Here, Egon Buchta GmbH also presented an innovation in this segment. Now, the visualization of airflow in cleanroom zones and the equipment within them, as required by GMP Annex 1, can be performed and recorded on-site at the user's location using state-of-the-art 3D technology. With the help of a virtual 3D headset, the recorded aerosol airflow in the air is made directly visible to the user. This creates a fully spatial impression of the airflow pattern.

In this special application, the so-called virtual reality is not a simulated airflow on a computer, but actually real in the room. The advantage of the spatial impression over the previously common 2D video recording becomes immediately evident to the user upon putting on the 3D VR glasses. And the free movement within the room is also a noticeable advantage compared to viewing on 3D-capable TV monitors.

Since airflow films, understandably, cannot be displayed in print media, Buchta, together with Markus Rall from Viality in Hagen, produced a demo video in 2D. This makes it possible to roughly simulate the perception of the spatial impression that the viewer experiences through the 3D glasses. After presenting the new product at Cleanzone, Buchta plans to introduce the innovation to his customers and all cleanroom enthusiasts in the coming weeks and months. The 3D VR glasses will also be showcased at the upcoming Lounges 2019.

As the main users of this technology, Buchta primarily envisions the pharmaceutical industry and blood donation services.
