Flexible solutions for packaging medical products
MULTIVAC at MedtecLIVE 2019 in Nuremberg (Hall 9, Stand 631)
From May 21 to 23, 2019, MULTIVAC will showcase its automation and line expertise in the field of packaging solutions for medical devices at MedtecLIVE. The focus will be on a line for packaging pre-filled glass or plastic syringes. Other exhibits include various solutions for packaging medical products in small to medium batches, characterized by high flexibility and efficiency. The industry trend towards greater individualization and variety continues unabated.
The packaging line for medical sterile goods consists of a vibration hopper, a syringe feed system, a deep-drawing packaging machine R 245, a digital printer for printing flexible production data onto the packages, and a vision system for print image inspection. The automatic feed system introduces pre-filled glass or plastic syringes into the packaging cavities and ensures controlled product orientation. It comprises a feed wheel system, a singulation wheel, a conveyor belt, and a pick & place robot. The feed is synchronized with the R 245 deep-drawing packaging machine and can be controlled via the packaging machine's control terminal. The configurable deep-drawing packaging machine offers high flexibility regarding the packaging materials and formats processed.
Another exhibit is the compact deep-drawing packaging machine R 081, which is particularly suitable for small batch production and companies looking to enter automated packaging. The machine can be used for manufacturing vacuum packs as well as packs with modified atmosphere and reduced residual oxygen content. Both hard and soft films, as well as Tyvek® and paper-based packaging materials, can be processed easily. The format ranges are freely configurable. The convenient drawer system allows for quick and easy format changes.
For packaging medical sterile goods in trays, MULTIVAC presents the specially developed semi-automatic tray sealer T 260, designed to meet the high demands of the medical device and pharmaceutical industries. The portable compact model is suitable for processing a wide range of trays and offers a high level of process safety, reproducibility, and, above all, flexibility. The sealing tool ensures controlled sealing pressure and precise temperature distribution.
With the chamber machine C 300 TC, MULTIVAC introduces a powerful model for safely packaging medical sterile goods in pouches. The machine can produce both vacuum and modified atmosphere packs with reduced residual oxygen content. The temperature-controlled and permanently heated sealing bar ensures reproducible sealing quality through its calibrability.
At the trade fair booth, MULTIVAC will also present the packaging concept Snapsil®. Snapsil® packages feature an integrated “snap opening” function, providing an innovative opening aid that makes the packages easy to use in hectic hospital and care environments or for elderly and disabled persons. Depending on the product, the package can be equipped with a “click to close” function, allowing it to be opened and securely closed multiple times. Additionally, a first opening protection ensures maximum product safety. Snapsil® packages can be produced on both deep-drawing machines and tray sealers from MULTIVAC. The solution was developed in collaboration with Snapsil Corporation.
