From automotive and mechanical engineering to the pharmaceutical and medical industries: In certain production processes, components used are exposed to challenging environmental influences such as chemicals, welding, or coolant splashes. This also applies to hoses for transporting various media. To provide users with high process safety and comprehensive flexibility, SMC has developed the double-walled hoses of the TUE series. While the outer layer made of fluoropolymer ensures exceptional environmental resistance, the inner layer made of polyurethane provides high elasticity. Suitable for media such as air, water, and inert gases, available in various outer diameters and four color variants, and operable within a broad temperature range, these hoses cover a wide range of application fields.

Special hoses are typically used for transporting media such as water or air—whether in sectors like pressure, food, and semiconductor industries or in various processes such as machining and welding applications. To combine comprehensive flexibility and high resistance in the hoses used for these purposes, automation specialist SMC has developed the TUE series: The double-walled hoses made from two different materials combine environmental resistance with flexibility, cover a wide operating temperature range, and are available in four color variants and five different outer diameters. Together, they offer optimal properties to ensure reliable media transport for a broad spectrum of applications.

Double the durability and better bending

The TUE series is a double-sided hose for transporting water, air, and inert gases. Its outer layer is made of fluoropolymer, which is highly resistant to environmental influences such as flames or chemicals, and complies with UL 94 standards according to V-0 flammability criteria for plastics. The hose is also suitable for applications involving welding or coolant splashes and ensures continuous high process safety. The inner layer made of polyurethane provides high flexibility with a minimal bending radius between 11 and 44 mm (minimum) and 14 to 61 mm (recommended). This allows the hose to be easily used for various applications, even in tight spaces.

Flexible and error-reducing

Thanks to the available outer diameters of optionally 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 mm (inner diameter equivalent to 2.5, 4, 6, 7.5, and 9 mm), the TUE series is suitable for different application specifications. Compared to the proven TU series, the cross-section has increased by up to 44% (TU = 19.6 mm² vs. TUE = 28.3 mm²). This is complemented by the variety of compatible clamp connections KQB2/KQG2, KF (as polyamide or brass fittings), and KFG2 from SMC. The hoses are overall suitable for a broad temperature range—from -20°C to 80°C for compressed air and inert gases, and from 0°C to 70°C (not frozen) for water—further expanding their application scope across various industries and uses.

Thanks to the outer layer available in four color variants—"Black" and "White" (both opaque), "Blue" (translucent), and the material color "Translucent"—different circuits can be assembled that are also easy to distinguish from each other. The TUE series, suitable for a operating vacuum of -101.3 kPa, thus reduces the likelihood of errors during installation as well as maintenance and servicing work.
