Find the right chemical protective suit online: DuPont™ SafeSPEC™
New, interactive selector tool from DuPont Personal Protection assists in simple steps to choose the most suitable protective clothing for an application
DuPont™ SafeSPEC™ is an interactive online tool that assists safety professionals in selecting the most suitable chemical protective clothing for a specific application. The company has now expanded the platform with a so-called Selector, which guides users through the selection process in simple steps. As a result, users receive appropriate suggestions from the protective clothing range and can then access comprehensive information about the properties of individual products. For complex protection requirements or hazards, an experienced team of experts is also available to provide personal advice on protective clothing selection.
SafeSPEC™ was introduced at A+A 2013 and has been available to users in Europe since 2014 in five languages. The tool offers, among other features:
- Selection and comparison of DuPont protective suits and accessories by brand, design, protection type, standards, hazard type,
- Direct access to all available information for a product (properties, standards, barrier performance, comfort, product literature such as data sheets, size charts, instructions for use, CE certificates, industry-specific product information) as well as 360° and detailed views,
- Permeation data for various protective clothing materials from DuPont for more than 2000 tested chemicals,
- Information on sources of supply.
Following overwhelmingly positive market feedback, the company has now added the so-called Selector to SafeSPEC™. This guides the user in simple steps through the selection of the most suitable protective suit and accessories for a specific hazard or activity. When searching for an activity, the user clicks on the homepage of the Selector, for example first on “Industry,” then on the area in which they are active. Next, they select the relevant activity and specify in the following step the amount and intensity of contact with the hazardous substance, as well as the direction from which it may contact the body (all directions, locally limited – overhead/head, locally limited – torso, locally limited – arms, etc.). After clicking on “Show suitable products,” all DuPont products suitable for the specified activity are displayed. The user can then compare these and access detailed information about the various solutions.
For more complex protection requirements or hazards involving multiple dangerous substances, DuPont also offers active personal support (“Active Assistance”) through an experienced team of protective clothing experts. The user first answers a few simple online questions about their protection needs and then chooses whether they want to be contacted by phone or receive on-site advice from a DuPont expert. After a comprehensive analysis of working conditions and potential hazards, they receive product suggestions tailored to their individual needs in their personal SafeSPEC™ area. Additionally, there is the option to request protective suits for wearing tests under real operating conditions.
