Faster, simpler, more flexible
Universal Robots introduces new software platform for automated machine loading
Universal Robots (UR), the Danish manufacturer of collaborative lightweight robots (Cobots), today at automatica 2023 in Munich introduces the new, innovative software platform PolyScope X. This has been specifically developed for automating various tasks in machine loading.
PolyScope X stands out with its new, customizable user interface and enables changeover times of less than 10 minutes – significantly shorter than what is currently possible with any other software. This allows users to produce many more batches in a day and to organize them more strategically and flexibly. Therefore, PolyScope X is ideal for high-mix/low-volume production and gives manufacturers worldwide more flexibility to handle rapidly changing and increasingly diverse orders.
PolyScope X offers a powerful, redesigned programming environment and a toolset that allows integrators and OEM partners to structure their code into sections. These can be reused throughout the program. This makes it easier to understand, maintain, and troubleshoot each operation.
"PolyScope X is a milestone in the automation of machine loading," says Anders Billesø Beck, Vice President of Strategy and Innovation at Universal Robots. "The simple user interface and much faster changeover times open up entirely new possibilities for end users to automate their machine loading tasks. At the same time, they can overcome some of the barriers that have previously prevented automation. I wouldn't hesitate to call PolyScope X a gamechanger for the industry – especially for those with high-mix/low-volume production."
Joint development with customers and partners
The UR team involved customers and partners throughout the entire development process of PolyScope X – including valuable feedback from beta testers and from IMTS 2022, where a prototype of the software was showcased.
"PolyScope X is a perfect example of how we approach innovation at Universal Robots," says Beck. "We want to involve our partners and end customers from the very beginning and ensure that we fully understand our customers' challenges. For me, this is an essential part of developing this new product. We are confident that it will help our customers grow and reach their full potential."
