Fascinating energy management systems wanted: Fifth vector award launched

They withstand saltwater on ships and oil rigs, stubborn dust and dirt in conveyor systems, or work in cleanroom environments certified to ISO Class 1. These are energy chain systems, whose applications today are almost limitless. To find the most innovative and daring worldwide, the motion plastics specialist igus initiates the vector award every two years, which was launched again this year at Motek. Any user can apply online and present their designs to the jury with short texts, photos, and videos. The winners will be awarded a prize money of up to 5,000 euros, and the official award ceremony will take place at the Hannover Messe in April 2016.

Every two years, bold and creative applications for energy supply solutions are awarded with the "vector award," initiated by igus. This year, the official application phase for the 2016 award begins at Motek. An expert jury from science, professional associations, and the press evaluates the applications and selects the winners from all participants. "It is still quite surprising and exciting for us to see where and how customers are using our energy chain systems," explains Harald Nehring, authorized officer for e-chain systems at igus GmbH. "Therefore, we want to promote new applications for our products with this competition and also recognize the courage of the designers."

The vector award is endowed with prize money of up to 5,000 euros. Anyone who dares to showcase new applications with energy chains is encouraged to apply, regardless of industry. This reflects the diversity of interesting applications from past years.
