Exyte continues on its path of success with record annual results

Order intake with €8.1 billion doubled – highest value in the company's history
• Revenue increased by nearly 20% to €4.9 billion – setting a new record

Exyte GmbH (Exyte), a global leader in the planning, development, and provision of high-tech facilities, once again achieved record annual figures. All key financial targets were exceeded, and consistent strong growth was achieved.

Exyte supports customers in thriving markets characterized by megatrends with strong long-term growth, helping them implement the most demanding technical requirements. These include the semiconductor, battery, biotech, or pharmaceutical industries, as well as data centers. With a record revenue of €4.9 billion – an increase of nearly 20% (2020: €4.1 billion) – and an order intake of €8.1 billion – the highest in the company's history and double that of the previous year (2020: €4.1 billion) – Exyte recorded significant growth across all major business segments and regions. The increased revenue also improved profitability: Adjusted EBITDA increased by nearly 23% to €294 million (2020: €240 million), and adjusted EBIT by nearly 25% to €263 million (2020: €213 million), with an adjusted EBITDA margin of 6.0% and an adjusted EBIT margin of 5.4%. The order backlog as of December 31, 2021, amounted to €6.7 billion, more than doubling compared to the previous year (2020: €3.2 billion).

The largest business segment of Exyte, Advanced Technology Facilities, continues to grow, while the Biopharma & Life Sciences segment reports a record revenue growth of over 60%

Advanced Technology Facilities, with a share of more than 87% of revenue, increased its revenue by more than 20% in 2021 to €4.2 billion (2020: €3.5 billion). Due to sustained demand in the semiconductor sector, order intake more than doubled compared to the previous year, reaching nearly €7.3 billion (2020: €3.4 billion).

The revenue in the Biopharma & Life Sciences segment increased significantly by over 60%, reaching €357 million (2020: €221 million). Its share of total revenue thus increased to over 7%. The main driver was the strong demand for biopharmaceutical facilities. Order intake rose by nearly 12% to €492 million (2020: €440 million).

In the Data Centers segment, order intake nearly tripled to €305 million (2020: €107 million). Conversely, revenue slightly decreased to €180 million (2020: €224 million), due to some projects being postponed to 2022.

EMEA again the most revenue-rich region, APAC records the largest increase in revenue and order intake

Among all regions where Exyte operates, EMEA accounted for nearly 50% of total revenue with €2.4 billion (2020: €2.4 billion). Revenue in the APAC region increased significantly by almost 70% to €1.7 billion (2020: €1.0 billion) – representing almost 35% of total revenue. Revenue in the AMER region increased slightly from €407 million to €423 million. The Technology and Services segment, which is additionally reported as a separate segment alongside the regions, saw a revenue increase of nearly 20% to €427 million (2020: €356 million).

"We have once again achieved remarkable results in our business segments and regions," says Peter Schönhofer, CFO of Exyte. "Last year, we exceeded our planned financial targets again: our order intake reached a record high, and we were able to significantly increase our revenue once more. Thanks to the improved revenue and ongoing process optimization and standardization, we also improved our profitability and increased our adjusted EBIT by nearly 25%. Our declared goal is to continue profitable growth and further improve our profitability in the future. For 2022, we plan to increase our organic revenue by more than 20% to a new record of around €6 billion, with an EBITDA of around €400 million and an EBIT of around €360 million, each representing an increase of over 35%."
Exyte continues on its growth path and intends to surpass the €10 billion sales mark within five years to reach the next growth stage; various initiatives are planned to achieve faster, profitable growth.

The extraordinary results of 2021 mark the beginning of the next growth phase in Exyte's corporate history. With a clearly defined core business and targeted goals, Exyte pursues ambitious growth objectives: the company is on the "Pathway to Ten" and aims for a revenue of around €6.0 billion this year and €10.0 billion by 2027. The future agenda includes the already initiated "Strategy 2025" and combines various plans and initiatives across multiple areas:

• Realizing growth potential and a clear focus on new market demands – with particular attention to the booming semiconductor manufacturing worldwide, the growing demand for battery manufacturing plants, especially in Europe, and the personalized production of pharmaceutical and biotechnological products, mainly in European and US markets.

• Strengthening business development and expanding customer relationships – with a special focus on global key customers and regional projects.

• Expanding and strengthening the core business through acquisitions – additional specific acquisition targets are already planned or on the agenda.

• Expanding global recruiting and talent development initiatives across all segments to meet the dynamic demand situation – after increasing staff by more than 50% in 2021, a further 1,500 to 2,000 new hires are planned for 2022; within the next five years, the number of employees is expected to reach 12,000 to 13,000.

• Expanding global presence with the goal of becoming "One Global Company" – further advancing the harmonization of processes, structures, and systems worldwide.
