New home of around 300 square meters: In its testing rooms at the company's headquarters in Heilbronn, Xenios AG develops life-saving technologies for heart and lung patients.

When the testing room of a Med-Tech company moves, it's not done in a day. In the case of Heilbronn-based Xenios AG (part of Fresenius Medical Care since 2016), two months were needed to install the appropriate rooms along with the connected workshop at the new location.

Especially the strictly defined requirements regarding temperature and compressed air in the testing area necessitated the installation of a complex ventilation system with monitoring, heat recovery, compressed air system, and ultrapure water system. To guarantee the testing conditions, the quality of the compressed air also had to be qualified according to DIN EN ISO 8573-1.

Xenios AG commissioned its long-standing service provider, CAT Clean Air Technology GmbH from Stuttgart, to manage the project, which was responsible not only for planning and implementation but also for electrical installations, refrigeration technology, and coordination of the various trades.

The internationally operating medical technology company specializes in the treatment of lung and heart failure. Among other things, Xenios develops technologies for extracorporeal heart and lung support using membrane oxygenation (ECMO) — a highly innovative procedure used, for example, in lung transplants or severe COVID-19 cases. In the two new testing rooms, Xenios also plans to continue researching the further development of these techniques.
