Machine blistering is one of the most modern forms of medication dispensing: Approved finished medicinal products are repackaged under cleanroom conditions in accordance with EU-GMP guidelines – specifically tailored to individual patients according to medical medication plans. This form of patient-specific medication supply is primarily used in nursing and care homes as well as outpatient care services. Here, blistering relieves nursing staff from the time- and personnel-intensive task of handling tablets and capsules.

One of the largest specialized companies for machine blistering – Blisterzentrum Baden-Württemberg GmbH in Magstadt – has recently significantly expanded its cleanroom capacity. Covering a total of 100 square meters of Class D cleanroom space, the company now packages several tens of thousands of blister trays daily, serving several thousand patients. The production of secondary blisters in the cleanroom ensures the highest hygiene standards.

The complete expansion project was commissioned by CAT Clean Air Technology GmbH from Stuttgart – from planning through project coordination and cleanroom outfitting to initial and requalification measures. The scope of the contract also included a few "specials" that required considerable coordination among the involved trades during ongoing operation – including the breakthrough between the existing and expanded areas, the installation of a dust protection wall, and the installation of a new ventilation system.
