The proven operation mode selector PITmode from Pilz is now available in a new design and optionally with pictograms for machine tools. By using standard symbols, it is ideally suited for international use. PITmode offers two functions in a compact device: the safe selection of defined operating modes and access authorization to the machine.

On the one hand, defined operating modes are reliably recognized by the control: PITmode safely switches from one mode to another through self-monitoring. Five adjustable operating modes are possible: automatic operation, setup mode, manual intervention under restricted conditions, special mode or process monitoring, and service operation. Thanks to the LED indicator, the currently selected operating mode and the authorization level can be displayed securely against manipulation. PITmode can be used for applications up to PL d according to EN ISO 13849-1 or SIL CL 2 according to EN 62061.

PITmode: Access and Manipulation Protection in One

On the other hand, access authorization to the machine can be controlled: each operator receives access via the coded key to the machine functions or operating modes authorized for them. Thanks to contactless transmission of the key identification number based on RFID technology, the individual authorization levels are selected in the machine control. Thus, PITmode offers high access and manipulation protection through universal coding.
