If it is about water treatment, water recycling, resource recovery, and wastewater management, the EnviroWater Group offers extensive expertise for a holistic and sustainable water management approach. The expert network will present at ACHEMA, the world forum and international leading trade fair for the process industry, from June 10 – 17, 2024, in Hall 4.1, Stand D49, new concepts related to water in the following areas: Cold WFI production. Safe, energy- and cost-reducing production of water for injection purposes (WFI) through membrane-based water treatment.

– Innovative pure steam generation for safe pharmaceutical production processes.
– Ultra Pure Water systems for electrolysis plants for hydrogen production.
– Digital Service Platform WaterExpert. How smart technology is conquering live support for water treatment and wastewater systems.
– Sustainable solutions for wastewater treatment and water reuse for future-proof production

Membrane-based Cold WFI Production

Safe, energy- and cost-reducing production of water for injection purposes (WFI) through membrane-based water treatment

EnviroFALK offers pharmaceutical companies convincing options with its membrane-based cold WFI systems in terms of safety, cost savings, and sustainability. Especially in times of high energy costs, many companies realize how extensive the cost savings with cold WFI are, since the water does not need to be vaporized and no subsequent condensation is required.

EnviroFALK water treatment systems for cold WFI production consist of a combination of processes including reverse osmosis, electrodeionization, and ultrafiltration. Reverse osmosis acts as a barrier for ions, organic impurities, and microorganisms. The remaining ions are removed via downstream electrodeionization. Subsequently, the patented ultrafiltration process serves as an absolute safety barrier against endotoxins and microorganisms. Special ceramic modules are continuously treated with ozone during this process.

“This allows us to enable, in addition to thermal, also chemical sanitization and to further direct ozone treatment into the pretreatment, actively preventing possible contamination right at the feed water inlet,” says Fabian Stapper, Head of Sales and Business Development at EnviroFALK PharmaWaterSystems.

To completely exclude harmful influences in advance, EnviroFALK relies on a holistic hygienic design and a comprehensive biofilm control strategy that exceeds the requirements of relevant standards.

Pure Steam Generation

Innovative pure steam generation for safe pharmaceutical production processes

EnviroFALK pure steam generators produce qualified pure steam for sterilizing components, pipelines, and medical devices according to the strict requirements of all applicable pharmacopoeias. To comply with EN 285, the systems can be equipped with a thermal degassing unit to remove so-called “non-condensable gases” from the feed water.

External heat exchangers allow for quick and efficient service interventions. Additionally, the low rise velocity of the steam within the pressure column ensures optimal droplet separation (endotoxin-controlled pure steam).

EnviroFALK emphasizes the highest quality standards in material and component selection, as well as an efficient process for pure steam generation. Fabian Stapper, Head of Sales and Business Development at EnviroFALK PharmaWaterSystems: “Our pure steam generators have an evaporation rate of < 1%. The intelligent standby system requires only minimal startup times within regular operation for steam of the highest purity. Additional features include our anti-rouging concept, the natural circulation process, and clever energy-saving concepts.”

Ultra Pure Water for Hydrogen Production

Water treatment technology for supplying electrolysis systems

Green hydrogen is produced via electrolysis, where renewable electrical energy is converted into hydrogen. A process that requires the purest water.

The treatment to Ultra Pure Water occurs in multiple process stages. An important process to maintain consistently high water quality is the circulation cleaning. In the so-called “refinement loop,” water is repeatedly purified through a polishing system. The circulation cleaning is either integrated directly into the feed water preparation or added as a stand-alone unit to an existing process water system. Both feed water preparation and circulation cleaning can be modularly constructed for individual integration into the overall electrolysis concept. Water sources such as seawater, river water, surface water, or wastewater can be used for feed water preparation.

Christopher Lenz, Business Development Manager at EnviroFALK PharmaWaterSystems: “Contributing to the development of green hydrogen and continuing to grow underscores once again the importance of our work. With our water treatment technology, we contribute to actively advancing climate neutrality.”

Digital Service Platform WaterExpert

Smart technology for live support of water treatment and wastewater systems

Deriving trend developments and specific maintenance intervals to make water treatment and wastewater management more effective and predictable? This is what the experts at EnviroWater Group have thoroughly examined. The solution: WaterExpert™. The digital service platform that combines real-time data monitoring, alarm management, digital plant inspections, knowledge, maintenance, and plant management in a user-friendly platform. Remote access to water treatment and wastewater systems can also be enabled upon request.

Maximilian Lehre, Product Management and Digitalization at EnviroFALK: “Changes in influent water quality, for example, in industrial companies, can occur due to various influences. These must be detected early before disruptions occur in the water treatment system. Quick remedial action is essential. With our digital service platform WaterExpert™, we ensure rapid system diagnostics, tailored solution proposals, and regular maintenance intervals for maximum operational safety.”

Wastewater Treatment and Water Reuse

Sustainable solutions for wastewater treatment and water reuse for future-proof production

For the sustainable treatment of wastewater from the production of pharmaceuticals, chemicals, cosmetics, and solar cell manufacturing, EnviroChemie provides customized system solutions. These can be flexibly adapted if wastewater constituents change and are characterized by a minimal CO2 footprint. “Investing in water reuse systems can secure a production site amid increasing water scarcity,” says Pim Warmerdam, Project Planning and Sales at EnviroChemie.

In addition to conventional wastewater treatment, EnviroChemie develops customized solutions that reliably remove active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) from wastewater. This includes detailed analytical investigations, pilot testing at the EnviroChemie laboratory or on-site at the customer’s facility upon request, as well as planning, construction, and commissioning of the systems. Services such as maintenance, water chemicals, and complete plant operation complete the offering.
