Also, the conversations of the Minister of Economics and Deputy Prime Minister of Baden-Württemberg, Ernst Pfister, at the SCHMIDT Technology booth, revolved around the dominant topic of energy efficiency. Accompanied by Christoph Münzer, the Managing Director of the economic association WVIB, he was able to see, among other things, how significant energy savings can be achieved in cleanroom operation through precise airflow measurement.

To realize pressure overpressure in cleanrooms, relatively high volumetric flows are usually required through the ventilation system. The air quantities needed for this constitute a significant part of the energy balance of a ventilation system. An additional to pressure measurement installed airflow sensor SS 20.400 from SCHMIDT Technology offers the possibility to measure a so-called over-ventilation, i.e., the air flowing out of the cleanroom, very accurately. The measurement ranges of these sensors start at airflow velocities (WN) of just 0.05 m/s. This is below a differential pressure of 0.01 Pa and thus far beyond the capabilities of a differential pressure sensor.

With the precise detection of minimal airflows and their bidirectional recognition, the operational safety and energy efficiency of cleanrooms can be significantly improved. A calculation based on practical experience demonstrates that nearly halving the energy costs is possible in this way.
