Endress+Hauser wins the German Sustainability Award

Endress+Hauser sees itself as a partner for the sustainable transformation of the process industry.

Endress+Hauser has won the German Sustainability Award in the measurement and control technology industry. This recognizes the comprehensive ecological and social commitment of the family-owned company, as acknowledged by the independent foundation. Endress+Hauser promotes sustainability within its own organization and supports the transformation of the process industry with products, solutions, and services.

In addition to the long-term impact and responsibility, the further development of the sustainability balance sheet, as well as innovation strength and signaling effect, are relevant criteria for the German Sustainability Award. "The award motivates us to actively shape our responsibility further – both in our own actions and in what we implement together with our customers," says Julia Schempp, Corporate Sustainability Officer of the Endress+Hauser Group.

The sustainable orientation is deeply embedded in the company and reflected in business processes and the portfolio. By 2050, Endress+Hauser aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the entire value chain to net zero. This goal has been validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative. The greatest challenges lie in the upstream and downstream value chains – for example, through the procurement of steel and aluminum for manufacturing or through the operation of measuring devices at customers' sites.

Partner for Sustainable Transformation

"Sustainability is a necessity if the future on this planet is to be livable. We must succeed in combining sustainability with economic efficiency and competitiveness," emphasizes CEO Dr. Peter Selders. Endress+Hauser relies on innovation. Sustainable thinking should shape the development of new products. When less material is used or the energy consumption of a device decreases, the product-related CO2 footprint correspondingly reduces.

At the same time, Endress+Hauser supports the process engineering industry in its sustainable transformation. The products help to use resources efficiently, reduce emissions, and make processes safe and environmentally friendly. For example, food companies need to regularly clean their systems. Measurement technology can save water, cleaning agents, and energy during this process. In gas power plants, precise analyses are necessary to blend hydrogen into natural gas and thus reduce CO2 emissions.

Award for Ecological and Social Commitment

The German Sustainability Award is one of the most well-known sustainability awards in Germany and has been awarded since 2008. It recognizes actors from business, science, and the public sector across 100 industries for contributions to sustainable transformation. The foundation is based on comprehensive assessments. Transparent processes and objective criteria enable nominated companies and organizations to further improve their sustainability performance.
