Emerson (NYSE: EMR), a global leader in automation technology and software, announced today the introduction of DeltaV™ Workflow Management. This next-generation software is designed for early-stage life sciences companies. With the new software, Emerson enhances the capabilities of the evolving DeltaV automation platform and offers more scalable options to meet the needs of smaller innovators in the biosciences field. DeltaV Workflow Management provides companies with limited IT infrastructure a cloud-based Software-as-a-Service solution for simple recipe creation and execution, as well as electronic data capture.

In growing life science companies, which manufacture, for example, advanced therapies for hard-to-treat diseases and personalized medicines, production facilities still rely heavily on manual processes and records for lab-scale equipment and recipe development. Many of these customers lack robust IT departments and do not have staff familiar with the complex programming requirements typical of conventional Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).

DeltaV Workflow Management eliminates this complexity by transitioning workflow data for recipe creation and execution from manual data sheets to digital "paper on glass." Thus, DeltaV Workflow Management offers a simple and scalable solution that accelerates the drug development process without requiring programming experience. In DeltaV Workflow Management, users utilize simple drag-and-drop elements to create recipe steps and automate workflows that meet Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. Within these steps, they can add new parameters and requirements for electronic signatures for quality control and regulatory compliance, execute product recipes, authorize users for specific tasks, and create digital batch records.

DeltaV Workflow Management extends and complements the capabilities for digital recipe development and execution already provided by Emerson's DeltaV MES – the latest evolution of the Syncade MES. This gives users additional flexibility to adapt digital recipe solutions to their business needs.
