The ELPRO Measurement Technology GmbH in Schorndorf celebrates 25 years of successful company history. As a manufacturer and service provider of high-quality monitoring solutions for rooms and devices, the company has developed since its founding in 1993 into a reliable partner for customers and suppliers. Today, numerous companies use the company's products and services in the transportation sector with independent data loggers, as well as in warehousing, laboratories, and cleanroom environments with third-generation monitoring solutions.

Over the past 25 years, ELPRO Measurement Technology GmbH has grown from an initial team of 3 employees to a medium-sized company with 40 employees at 3 locations in Germany and over 200 employees worldwide. The ELPRO Group operates internationally and offers an interesting portfolio tailored to the requirements of the pharmaceutical industry: “Comprehensive supply and strategic partnerships with our customers.”

Several years before the founding of ELPRO Measurement Technology GmbH, ELPRO-BUCHS AG in Switzerland launched one of the first independent data loggers for temperature and humidity, HAMSTER®, and quickly achieved notable early successes in the food industry. Through the consistent further development of hardware and software, ELPRO Measurement Technology GmbH realized its first projects in the pharmaceutical industry with the new product series HOTDOG® starting in 1993 and already entered into a strategic partnership for transport, laboratory, and storage applications with a major pharmaceutical company in 1996. The evaluation software elproLOG ANALYZE was qualified and offered as a QLS version (Qualified Logger System) along with services for qualification and calibration.

Around the turn of the millennium, new EU laws and regulations for the storage and transport of deep-frozen products required a new focus in marketing and development, as well as close cooperation with truck and body manufacturers and technical approval authorities. With the temperature recording system HOTBOX Euro, ELPRO gained many new experiences in developing mechanical outdoor/indoor enclosures and mobile evaluation practices.

In response to the demands of FDA and GMP, the pharmaceutical industry established new requirements for the production, storage, and transport of pharmaceuticals and active ingredients during these years. These were implemented in 2005 with GAMP5 and on November 3, 2006, with the new Medicinal Products and Active Ingredient Manufacturing Regulation. Two years earlier, ELPRO Measurement Technology GmbH, together with a customer, defined the first mapping plan for a new high-bay warehouse and equipped it with the newly developed data loggers with LAN connections according to the mapping results. This also marked the start of ELPRO’s new central monitoring system.

In its GxP Services division, ELPRO offers not only mapping but also GxP consulting, GxP qualification, project services, as well as on-site and off-site calibrations. The range of services is continuously developed and offered internationally according to customer requirements. Mapping is the abbreviation for an extensive temperature/humidity distribution study conducted with precisely defined measurement points over a specified period. The mapping documents the suitability of storage locations according to specified requirements and identifies critical points for later monitoring.

Initially designed to document storage conditions, the central monitoring system elproLOG-Net has been continuously developed and optimized due to numerous project-related inquiries for applications in laboratories and cleanrooms. Today, almost all required measurement parameters can be measured, alarmed, and documented. In addition to the important parameters for cleanroom customers—temperature, humidity, differential pressure, CO₂, airflow, particles (size and number)—all other sensors with analog outputs can also be integrated thanks to the professionally designed measurement system.

The current third generation of the ELPRO Monitoring System ECOLOG — networked monitoring for rooms and devices — is highly modern, digital, database-oriented, and offered in four user-oriented variants. ELPRO always provides a single optimal solution for all requirements. With monitoring solutions for mobile use, room and device monitoring, independent monitoring solutions, and a wide range of services, ELPRO already offers comprehensive support for its customers. The launch of the new ECOLOG generation, which features two cloud and two local server solutions, is especially focused on setting new standards for strategic partnerships with customers.
