EHEDG New Certification of the Hygienic USIT® Screw and Sealing System
Cooperation between KIPP and Freudenberg Sealing Technologies
The innovative screw and sealing system Hygienic USIT® was specifically developed for use in hygiene-sensitive areas. During the re-certification process by EHEDG (European Hygienic Engineering and Design Group), the cooperation partners KIPP and Freudenberg Sealing Technologies made optimizations. The redesigned stainless steel components are certified according to EL Class I AUX.
For improved centering, the inner diameter of the sealing washer was slightly reduced. This led to an adjustment of the screw shank. Additionally, HEINRICH KIPP WERK revised the steps of the shank lengths. In certain length versions, the screws now feature a standard thread up to the screw head. To visually unify the fastening system, an adjustment was made to the cap nut to match the screw head.
The starting point of the screw and sealing system is the hygienic USIT® seal from Freudenberg. A special contour of the sealing lip and the polished flange surface of the screw form a form-fitting seal at the screw joint. Even after multiple tightening and loosening, the sealing properties remain constant. In line with the sealing washer, KIPP developed the matching NOVOnox hygienic hexagon screw and cap nut. The combination of these stainless steel products results in a screw and sealing system that meets all requirements of hygiene-sensitive areas. Polished surfaces, radii, and shape transitions are free of dead spaces and ensure easy cleaning. The screw, cap nut, and USIT® sealing washer are perfectly coordinated. While the products are also available individually, the EHEDG certification applies only to the system unit.
