Easier entry into data-driven production

Industrial Internet of Things Platforms, short IIoT Platforms, form the foundation of digital manufacturing. To facilitate companies in implementing these platforms, IT service provider Adesso and the Fraunhofer IPA have summarized their expertise on the deployment and benefits in a white paper.

Integrating an IIoT platform into a company is complex, and finding a suitable concept for one's own production is not easy. Therefore, Adesso and the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology and Automation IPA have published the white paper "IIoT Platforms as a Central Data Basis for Digital Manufacturing" to make the start easier for companies. Furthermore, the white paper shows what types of platforms exist, how to find the right one, and what role IIoT platforms will play in manufacturing in the future.

"IIoT platforms bring together data from a wide variety of sources. This creates a unified data basis, which enables analyses and optimizations in production to be carried out with significantly less time," says Erwin Groß from the Department of Corporate Strategy and Development at Fraunhofer IPA. "In addition, they form the basis for sustainable efficiency improvements in manufacturing." Various studies assume that by 2025, 50 percent of industrial companies will be using IIoT platforms.
