Digital Factory 2015: Arburg becomes the exclusive partner of the Additive Manufacturing Plaza

With Arburg GmbH + Co KG, Deutsche Messe has succeeded in attracting one of the leading manufacturers in the field of "Additive Manufacturing" for the same-named special exhibition. This will be held for the first time next year as part of the Digital Factory. The international flagship trade fair for integrated processes and IT solutions is the ideal platform to showcase additive processes in industrial manufacturing. Heinz Gaub, Managing Director of Technology, Arburg: "We are very pleased to be the exclusive partner of the 'Additive Manufacturing Plaza' and to present our Freeformer and the technology of Arburg's plastic freeforming in this environment. It confirms both the high importance of our new industrial system for the additive production of plastic parts in batch size 1 or versatile small series, and the significance of Arburg in this future-oriented sector." With the Freeformer and Arburg's plastic freeforming (AKF), Arburg offers a new system and a new process for additive manufacturing that can process standard plastic granulates and also produce two-component parts.

Additive Manufacturing is a fundamentally new manufacturing method that has grown in importance over a few years, colloquially called "3D printing." Material is not removed or deformed but added layer by layer according to the digital product model. Furthermore, it enables the production of molds that cannot be manufactured with traditional methods.

The special exhibition "Additive Manufacturing Plaza"

Additive Manufacturing Plaza includes three core elements and offers visitors a special exhibition, a joint stand, and individual participation by key players. It showcases the integrated process from the 3D model of the finished part, through data preparation for manufacturing and production, to post-processing. The special feature: it is not about 3D printers and materials for DIY enthusiasts, but about industrial-grade machines and industry-standard materials with known strengths and properties, which are the focus of the special exhibition.
