Development competence for medical technology
Bürkert as a partner for custom microfluidic system solutions
The COMPAMED 2015 in Düsseldorf was all about high-tech solutions for laboratory and medical technology. It was the ideal platform for Bürkert Fluid Control Systems to showcase components and complete solutions for clinical diagnostic systems. The fluidics specialist offers experience in system solution design and a comprehensive range of standard products from a single source.
As a competent partner for customized microfluidic system solutions, Bürkert always develops the optimum together with its clients to meet the needs of medical technology users.
For the Spanish BioSystems S.A., an innovative manufacturer of clinical analysis devices for examination laboratories, the engineers of the Bürkert system house developed, for example in close collaboration, a universally applicable modular dosing unit for clinical blood sample analysis. It doses the fluids needed for analysis and is also suitable for use in all other analyzers within the broad portfolio. The basis of the microfluidic new development was the magnet valve type 127 and the directly acting media-separated 3/2-way toggle magnet valve 6628. The result of the development partnership is more reliable and economical than previous systems and enables fully automated analysis of up to 400 samples per hour.
Dosing in the Microliter Range
For precise dosing via pneumatics, the innovative Pneumatic Dosing System is available. Driven by pressure or vacuum, it provides significantly greater force than conventional drives. This allows the specified amount to be transported with an accuracy of ± 2%, largely independent of temperature and viscosity. The dosing volume ranges from 150 to 750 µl per stroke. The dosing system can be adapted to many applications with just a few modular components.
New Valves for Microfluidics
The new micro valve type 6724 from the Whisper Valve series does not earn its name for nothing. Thanks to its end-stop-free actuator, the media-separated 2/2- and 3/2-way valves regulate flow in ventilators, dialysis, and laboratory devices with noise levels of less than 30 dB. With a width of 8.9 mm and a nominal size of 1.2 mm, it fits even in the smallest devices and sets new standards in terms of speed, size, noise level, cleanliness, and minimal power consumption.
The cartridge valve type 6164 simplifies pneumatic controls through pilot valves, as it can be optimally integrated into block and plastic injection-molded parts and is designed for over 100 million switching cycles. Possible applications include valve islands or medical devices. It is also increasingly used in the Pneumatic Dosing System.
