The DeburringEXPO will be held from October 12 to 14, 2021, as an in-person event at the Karlsruhe trade fair grounds. Users from various industries with different tasks in the manufacturing steps of deburring and producing precision surfaces can finally again exchange ideas directly with suppliers and experience their new and further developed solutions live. The integrated specialist forum with simultaneous translation of lectures (German <> English) also enables the important transfer of knowledge about current developments and trends in these manufacturing areas.

Whether automotive and supplier industry, machinery and plant engineering, medical and pharmaceutical technology, measurement, fine and sensor technology, tool and mold making, or energy and environmental technology – demand is booming again in many industrial sectors. However, component manufacturing faces new and changing challenges due to transformation processes, altered manufacturing technologies such as additive manufacturing, optimized and new materials, the trend towards automation and digitization of production processes, as well as regulatory requirements. As different as these may be across industries, burr-free and product-specifically optimally processed surfaces are increasingly playing an important role. "On the one hand, it is about meeting higher requirements for quality, precision, and energy efficiency in deburring and surface finishing. On the other hand, costs should be reduced," describes Hartmut Herdin, Managing Director of fairXperts GmbH & Co. KG and organizer of the DeburringEXPO, outlining some of the areas of action for companies.

As a clearly focused information and communication platform on deburring technologies and the production of precision surfaces, the leading trade fairs enable targeted and efficient comparison of technologies and performance, which is not possible at any other trade fair. This is also evident in the fact that nearly all market and technology leaders are represented at the DeburringEXPO.

Industry- and technology-agnostic offering

The broad range of solutions offered by exhibitors is designed to efficiently meet current and future requirements. For manufacturers of medical technology products, it is among other things about meeting the requirements of the new Medical Device Regulation – Medical Devices Regulation (MDR), which has been mandatory since May 26, 2021. For sterile products, particles are also considered for the first time in the MDR. They can, for example, be caused by burrs, which therefore need to be reliably and traceably removed. In the automotive and supplier industry, the significantly increased demand for electric and hybrid vehicles is leading to an expansion of capacities for component manufacturing. Burr-free and highly precise surface finishing are required for numerous components, including housings and rotor shafts. In combustion engines, the focus is primarily on developments and optimizations that further reduce consumption and emissions. The quality of the relevant surfaces is just as important as burr-free fine processing, for example with ECM processes or laser technology. The increasingly strict cleanliness requirements for precision parts, such as those for measurement technology, optical and sensor industries, as well as production equipment for PCB manufacturing, also require reliable deburring. The quality of subsequent processes such as joining, sealing, coating, or assembly can only be ensured through burr-free and properly processed surfaces. This year's leading trade fair also addresses these challenges through the theme park "Cleaning after Deburring."

The theme park "AM Parts Finishing" is dedicated to post-processing additively manufactured components. Solutions for removing support structures and residual powder, for polishing and finishing surfaces, as well as for preparing components for subsequent heat treatment or coating, will be presented.

To produce faster, better, and more economically, automation and digitization of deburring and surface finishing processes are gaining importance across industries.

For this purpose, DeburringEXPO presents the theme park "Automated Deburring with Industrial Robots," showcasing innovative and practical solutions. For example, a compact robot cell will demonstrate all steps from component feeding, position recognition, handling, burr detection via camera or sensors, the deburring process with integrated tool change, to quality assurance and the final placement of the component in storage containers, live.

Bi-lingual Technical Forum – Knowledge Transfer as Added Value

The quality of the lectures and their high practical orientation ensure valuable knowledge transfer during the three-day technical forum integrated into the DeburringEXPO. The simultaneously translated (German <> English) presentations inform about fundamentals, ways to process and cost optimization, best-practice applications, trends, and the content of the theme parks.
