Custom protective devices for technical laser applications
If different types of lasers are used, humans can be injured by direct, reflected, or scattered laser radiation. If optimization of the application is not possible to achieve a safe laser safety class, complete shielding with a suitable protective device is recommended.
The company SPETEC from Erding already has extensive experience with protective devices in the field of cleanroom technology. Through its own planning department, customized special solutions are developed together with the customer and manufactured exactly according to customer specifications. The specialists rely on an aluminum frame construction, which can also be used 1:1 for custom laser protection. The cleanroom module is mounted directly over various workstations, such as the laser workstation. The ambient air is drawn in by a radial fan and pushed through the filter. This creates a laminar flow, i.e., the filtered air flows in parallel streamlines. Particles are captured from the parallel airflow and expelled outward. This allows the Laminar Flow Module FMS to equip a workstation with cleanroom conditions using simple and cost-effective means.
As with the products in cleanroom technology, SPETEC plans, designs, and manufactures all laser protection devices according to individual customer wishes. For optimal protection, tested surface elements are used, which have undergone laser exposure tests. Additional options such as suitable doors, laser safety windows, or interlock systems can also be planned as needed.
In addition to the solid panels mentioned above, laser protection curtains can also be installed. Such a laser protection tent offers the user flexible access to their workspace, as the individual curtain strips can be easily opened and, if necessary, dismantled.
These laser protection tents are produced from the SPETEC laser protection curtain LP12. It is manufactured in a sandwich construction. Two identical protective material top layers are applied to an inelastic carrier fabric, allowing both sides to face the laser. Since the curtain is sewn in strips, any desired width can be produced. Various fastening options are available and can be adapted to the conditions. The material used is certified by DIN CERTCO in accordance with DIN EN 12254:2012-04.
This small selection of laser protection options already demonstrates the flexibility of SPETEC in design and execution. SPETEC guarantees high material quality and manufacturing standards, ensuring maximum protection against damage from laser light.
Spetec will be present at Laser World of Photonics at booth 230 in Hall B1; interested visitors are welcome to stop by.
