Cooperation for automated format adjustment

The coordinated combination of linear unit and actuator offers a simple and clever solution for end users.

The demand for fully automated size adjustment and positioning systems has increased significantly in recent years. To meet the needs of its customers, RK Rose+Krieger is collaborating with Lenord + Bauer, a supplier of positioning systems.

With the linear axis modular system from RK Rose+Krieger GmbH and the actuator drives from Lenord + Bauer, automation can be implemented easily and quickly. In the first step, the three linear Move-Tec axis series E (single tube), EP-X (double tube), and quad EV (square) were combined with the PowerDRIVE actuator drives from Lenord + Bauer.

At RK Rose+Krieger, the Move Tec product range primarily covers simple and occasional positioning tasks. In the category of length-constant linear technology, the company offers classic linear units or linear guides, available in various designs and performance classes.

The different linear axes from RK Rose+Krieger can be easily automated with the actuator drives from Lenord + Bauer. The latter are available in short or long versions with aluminum or stainless steel housings. The devices deliver rated torques of 3.5 Nm or 5 Nm. To mount the PowerDRIVE units on the respective linear axes, the company designed a suitable torque coupling.

Just like the RK linear axes, the actuator drives from Lenord + Bauer can be used independently or as part of a modular overall system. The autonomous RK linear units can be equipped with drives that connect directly to the machine control via the integrated fieldbus interface using a plug. To operate the linear axes with automatic adjustment, only a 24V power supply and connection to the bus communication are required.

Cooperation could be expanded to other areas

RK Rose+Krieger, in close collaboration with the actuator drive manufacturer, also outfits complex machines with multiple linear units and decentralized communication units. In this case, drives with hybrid cables and PowerDRIVE boxes, as well as a compact PLC control with an operator terminal, are used. The drive specialist supplies both as ready-to-connect modules including control software, if needed.

The two companies initially cooperate with the simplest configuration of both component groups. Expansion of the collaboration to include additional components from both companies' product portfolios is planned. The use of the complete positioning system from Lenord + Bauer, including control cabinet and operator terminal, is also conceivable.
