Contribution to Climate Protection: Certificates for CO2-Neutral Soils

nora systems supports planners, builders, and end-users with the Interface Initiative Carbon Neutral Floors™ in achieving their own climate goals. A certificate confirms the CO2 neutrality of the rubber flooring upon request. The certificate lists the building and the delivered quantity of the flooring. The proof can also be issued based on the annual quantity. The Carbon Neutral Floors™ initiative is part of Interface Mission Climate Take Back™, which aims to reverse the effects of climate change through responsible actions. Like all Interface flooring, nora rubber floors are CO2-neutral throughout their entire product lifecycle.

Product choice has a direct impact on the climate

"Rising awareness of the consequences of climate change is making the sustainability of products an increasingly central issue," says Bettina Haffelder, Vice President nora DACH. Architects and builders are increasingly considering that the products they specify and purchase have a direct impact on the climate. nora systems is also working at its own manufacturing site to reduce its carbon footprint. A roadmap with set goals has been defined for this purpose. An important step was the switch to electricity from renewable energy sources in 2018. "Last year, we launched ambitious projects at the Weinheim plant aimed at reducing CO2 emissions and waste," explains Haffelder. The unavoidable CO2 emissions are offset by purchasing emission reduction certificates, which finance climate protection projects. These include energy projects for environmentally friendly electricity generation, projects to reduce or incorporate CO2, or projects to reduce emissions from deforestation and forest degradation. The Carbon Neutral Floors™ program is reviewed and certified annually by the independent certification company APEX Companies.

Product decisions with long-term impact: By choosing CO2-neutral nora rubber floors, planners, builders, and end-users of buildings can make a sustainable contribution to climate protection. The corresponding certification now also enables object-specific proof.
