Configurable control system PNOZmulti 2 by Pilz

Additional I/O and communication modules are now available for the configurable control system PNOZmulti 2.

New expansion modules for safety and communication are now available for the configurable control system PNOZmulti 2. Additionally, the base device PNOZ m B0 can now be expanded with four modules. With PNOZmulti 2, safety solutions of various sizes and requirements can now be implemented flexibly. The multifunctional, easy-to-configure control system is tailored for use in many areas of plant and machine engineering, especially when multiple safety functions – such as emergency stop, light curtains, or safety doors – need to be monitored on a machine.

The base device PNOZ m B0 can now be used with up to four expansion modules from version 1.1 onwards on the right side. These can increase the number of safety functions such as emergency stop, safety doors, light curtains, or two-hand controls. This allows more safety functions to be monitored simply and flexibly. PNOZmulti 2 thus provides even greater flexibility regarding size and the individual requirements of an application.

The only 45 mm wide base device features 20 safe inputs and four safe semiconductor outputs up to PL e or SIL CL 3. The base device consumes up to 80 percent less energy than comparable products. This translates to a CO2 savings of up to 6.39 kg per year for each control used, based on 4,800 operating hours.

New expansion modules for modular expansion

In addition to the existing safe input/output module with eight safe inputs and four safe semiconductor outputs, new modules for modular expansion are now available on the right side: an input module with 16 safe inputs and an input/output module with four safe inputs and four safe relay outputs. On the left side of the base device, communication modules with either a serial or an ETH interface, as well as fieldbus modules PROFIBUS-DP or CANopen, now enable data exchange with various control systems using PNOZmulti 2. For users, this means an even more flexible, open connection to existing or new applications.

The PNOZmulti Configurator configuration tool

The new hardware is compatible with the current version 9.2.0 of the PNOZmulti Configurator. This software tool allows time and cost savings in all engineering phases, from planning and configuration to maintenance. The safety circuit is created easily on a PC and can be flexibly adapted to changed applications.
