The Plastics Center in Leipzig (KuZ) is one of the most important innovation drivers in Central Germany. The KuZ scores especially through application-oriented solutions tailored directly to the customer. At Fakuma, the research facility presents its expertise in macro and micro areas across various technological fields. Selected topics are brought closer to the trade fair visitors. Notable developments include areas such as: lightweight construction, multi-component technology, micro plastics technologies, process combination of injection molding and PUR, ultrasonic welding and riveting.

New technological developments in the field of micro plastics technology are showcased at the KuZ booth. In addition to established processes like micro injection molding (1K, 2K), the focus is on special processes such as injection molding of inserts and micro extrusion. The injection molding of inserts aims to improve component quality through precise contour replication and reduction of internal stresses, especially in optical microcomponents. Micro extrusion offers new possibilities in the production of semi-finished products for medical technology. Newly developed plasticizing systems deliver optimal thermal and material melt quality for micro-specific plasticizing flows. These developments and processes exemplify the capabilities of the new Micro Application Center, MiKA, at KuZ.
