Communication module from Neuberger successfully certified according to STANDARD MOTOR INTERFACE guidelines

With the modules CM8420 and CM8420-LoVo, Neuberger offers an SMI-Schnittstelle to quickly and efficiently connect sun protection systems from interior and exterior areas to building automation.

The communication module CM8420 from Rothenburg's specialist for building automation, room automation, cleanroom, and process technology has been successfully certified since March 1, 2022. This means that all users of the Open.Room room automation system now have access to an officially certified and manufacturer-independent interface for connecting sun protection and shutter control.

For connecting drives with integrated electronic circuitry, Neuberger developed a dedicated module, the CM8420, which meets all the requirements of the STANDARD MOTOR INTERFACE, or SMI. The official certification process has now been successfully completed. Functions that were previously difficult, cumbersome, or very complex to implement with conventional drives are now a thing of the past. With the use of the CM8420 communication module in Neuberger's Open.Room room automation system, products from different manufacturers can now be easily combined.

For sustainable and energy-efficient building operation

The unified bidirectional SMI interface offers numerous advantages and application possibilities thanks to digital communication between control and drive. For example, precise tracking of the sun protection based on the sun's position enables optimal use of daylight. Sun protection systems can also be accurately aligned and positioned using an integrated controller according to the sun's position. Planning and implementing projects with SMI products during the design and construction phase allows for savings in installation time, costs, and space requirements, as there is no need for a separate control unit with its own motor connection for each drive, unlike conventional methods. With SMI, up to 16 drives can be connected and commissioned via electrical parallel wiring.

Neuberger now offers the appropriate interface with the CM8420 module for drives and controls with mains voltage of 230VAC as well as low voltage 24VDC (LoVo). From efficient shutter control to individual sun protection canopy management, all sun protection systems can be operated with complete flexibility and are particularly economical to control.
