Clean packaging solutions for increased efficiency

The specially folded liner automatically aligns itself during the filling process inside the IBC container.

"The Power of Blue" – under this motto, Schütz presented its sustainable packaging solutions for liquid fill goods at FachPack from September 24 to 26, 2019. Blue is not only the color in the corporate design of the global player; it also generally stands for sustainability and the preservation of our blue planet Earth. The company philosophy of sustainability, practiced by Schütz from the very beginning, aligns perfectly with the theme "environmentally friendly packaging" of this year's anniversary edition of the trade fair. Furthermore, blue also symbolizes cleanliness, which is another important topic at the Schütz booth. Cleanliness and purity are key factors at all stages of production – from manufacturing quality to product stability – and influence the entire supply chain.

Double protection thanks to liner

Among the exhibits at the Schütz booth that meet these highest cleanliness standards were, for example, the Ecobulk Foodcert + Aseptic and the Cleancert + Dualprotect. Both containers are equipped with a liner system including UN approval. This is particularly convenient for customers, as it is very user-friendly: immediately upon delivery, both containers are "ready to fill." The liner is made of high-quality LDPE film, which automatically unfolds and aligns inside the container during filling. This product combines numerous advantages: the integrated liner prevents contact of the fill product with oxygen, thus protecting it from alteration. Risks of contamination are eliminated, as is contact with condensate that may form inside the container. This extends the shelf life of the filled medium and allows for a significant reduction in the use of preservatives. The liner forms an additional and independently effective barrier. Surrounded by the leak-proof IBC plastic inner container, leaks are effectively prevented. Additionally, the liner prevents curing and skin formation – for example, in adhesives. Thus, the Ecobulk Cleancert + Dualprotect is ideally suited for transporting products in the adhesive industry. During production of the Ecobulk Foodcert + Aseptic, the integrated liner along with the fitting is sterilized by gamma irradiation – suitable for particularly sensitive applications under aseptic conditions.

Optimal stirring with the impeller

How the Schütz impeller works inside the bladder was demonstrated in detail to booth visitors. A specially prepared IBC with a sight window provides a view into the container. The single-use agitator is firmly connected to the screw cap of the IBC. This allows the packaging to remain closed throughout the entire supply chain—from filling to removal—a clean solution! At the same time, it ensures uniform agitation of the fill products. In various practical tests across different industries – from paints and coatings to agriculture and automotive – this tool has proven to be particularly efficient. The movable blades of the impeller change position depending on the rotational speed. This ensures a homogeneous consistency even with highly viscous fill products. Smaller residual amounts can also be optimally stirred. Using the impeller as a single-use system greatly reduces the risk of contamination. No elaborate cleaning – and the associated additional costs – are necessary. It is available for all 1,000 and 1,250-liter Ecobulk types with filling openings DN150 and DN225.

Automatic Lock preserves authenticity

In the barrel segment, the Automatic Lock bung closure system protects fill goods from contamination. It consists of a stopper and a sealing cap and can be mounted either manually or automatically. The stopper cannot be opened without destroying the sealing cap, as the inner sealing ring is firmly connected to the cap – an effective safeguard against unwanted access and contamination of the fill material. This preserves the authenticity of the filled medium. Schütz also showcased proven classics, including various types of plastic and steel barrels, in its trade fair lineup.
