Clean Label: efficient and clean biocides

Starting from May 1, 2020, new substance-specific concentration limits apply for Methylisothiazolinone (MIT). To avoid additional hazard warnings on paints, varnishes, adhesives, and construction chemicals, Vink Chemicals provides alternative active ingredient combinations with comparable effectiveness.

The EU has classified mixtures containing MIT as skin sensitizers category 1A and has therefore set a new substance-specific concentration limit of 15 ppm for these substance classes. The new lower limit applies to paints, varnishes, adhesives, and construction chemicals from May 1, 2020. A mixture containing MIT must then be labeled with the hazard statement H317 "May cause allergic skin reactions" if the concentration exceeds 15 ppm. Now, it is high time for all providers of the affected product categories to develop new formulations for proven products in their portfolio! Vinkocide KN is a formulation based on 1,2-Benzisothiazolin-3-one (BIT) and Pyridin-2-thiol-1-oxid with a sodium salt. It was specifically developed for the preservation of products with very high pH values (up to 13) and for use at high temperatures (up to 90 °C). parmetol BPX is a synergistic combination of Phenoxyethanol, Butylbenzisothiazolone (BBIT), and Bis(3-Aminopropyl)dodecylamine (BDA). Vink Chemicals generally recommends a dosage of 0.5 to 1.0% for parmetol BPX. The exact dosage should be determined through appropriate preservation load tests conducted by Vink application technology.
