Air purifiers improve indoor air quality – when equipped with the right filters and compliant with legal standards. High-quality air purifiers are capable of significantly reducing viruses, aerosols, and fine dust. They ensure that people indoors are better protected. During the Covid-19 pandemic, this is especially important.

How Camfil air purifiers protect against harmful viruses

Camfil air purifiers operate on a simple principle: Contaminated air flows through a double-sided decorative grille into the device and is cleaned there. When it exits the device, it is over 99 percent free of harmful particles, gases, and odors: Pure air disperses in all directions.

What sounds simple is actually very complex. Camfil's air purifiers are equipped with the most efficient HEPA filters (classified according to EN 1822) available. A HEPA filter is a type of pleated air filter. Particles are trapped inside, dried out, and die off. HEPA filters are used whenever the air needs to be especially clean (e.g., in cleanrooms) and must not contain harmful particles (e.g., viruses or fine dust). There are different types of HEPA filters. Which HEPA filter to use depends on what it needs to achieve. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Camfil recommends HEPA filters of class H14. They reduce the virus concentration (including Covid-19 viruses) by more than 99 percent, thereby also reducing the risk of infection.

Air purifiers are especially helpful when ventilation is difficult: e.g., in rooms with few windows or in winter. The filters used in Camfil air purifiers are extremely efficient: depending on the room size, they exchange the air up to six times per hour. Viruses hiding in aerosols do not survive contact with H14 class HEPA filters – ideally, they are reduced by up to 99.995 percent. Unpleasant odors and gases also have no chance when a Camfil air purifier is in the room, because: in addition to the HEPA filter, Camfil air purifiers also contain a molecular filter.

Camfil air purifiers and Covid-19

Since Camfil air purifiers remove up to 99.995 percent of viruses from the air, rooms equipped with them are significantly safer during the pandemic than rooms without air purifiers. Nevertheless, Camfil recommends additional protective measures such as wearing everyday masks, maintaining minimum distances, and ventilating regularly.

Air purifiers for offices, public facilities, and industry

Those who want to quickly ensure clean air in the office, classroom, or gym opt for mobile air purifiers. For rooms up to 75 square meters, Camfil has developed the City-Line. These quiet stand-alone units are no larger than a desk trolley and are ready to use immediately: just plug them into the power outlet. City-Line air purifiers operate on the recirculation principle: contaminated room air flows into the device, is freed from harmful particles inside, and then re-enters the room as cleaned air.

Allergy sufferers benefit doubly from Camfil air purifiers: The devices certified by ECARF (European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation) not only remove harmful viruses from the room air but also fine dust and allergens.

Even laypeople can easily change the filters in air purifiers: when it's time, a light on the device will illuminate. All filters can be disposed of via household waste.

There are also air cleaning devices for industrial sites. Industrial air purifiers protect the health of employees, the environment, and production processes. Because the air is cleaner, less cleaning is needed, working conditions are better, production runs more smoothly, and sick leave is lower.

Industrial air purifiers also contain high-efficiency HEPA filters. Since they are usually integrated into existing ventilation systems, they work especially effectively: the room air is cleaned inside the device and then transported out of the building. Fresh air is supplied back into the room via the ventilation system from outside.
