Chillventa continues on a record-breaking course and impresses with all key exhibition metrics. “With 30,585 trade visitors, Chillventa reports its best result to date. This is an increase of 7.5% compared to the 2012 event. Equally pleasing are the 984 exhibitors – 70 more than two years ago and also a record participation. These figures clearly demonstrate the high commitment and trust among trade visitors and exhibitors in YOUR Chillventa. It is the central meeting point for national and international market participants in the segments of refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation, and heat pumps,” explains Richard Krowoza, member of the management board, NürnbergMesse.

Once again, the high internationality of Chillventa was particularly impressive. 56% of visitors and 67% of exhibitors came from abroad. The 30,585 trade visitors represent over 110 countries worldwide. The current figures of Chillventa 2014 again confirm the importance of the trade fair. Nine out of ten visitors were satisfied with their Chillventa experience.

“Despite the strike by the German Railway Workers’ Union (GDL) on the second day of the fair, Chillventa was able to achieve these record figures and also saw a significant increase in visitors from Germany. But as important as the quantitative data is the quality of the trade visitors. The exhibiting companies expressed very positive feedback regarding the professional density and high decision-making competence,” says Alexander Stein, event manager of Chillventa at NürnbergMesse.

An example of the good development of the event is also reflected in the presentations by exhibitors. Some leading companies impressed with their particularly demanding presentations.

The top topics at Chillventa revolved around the responsible use of energy. Energy efficiency and sustainability remain the driving forces behind the development of new products and systems for refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation, and heat pumps. This was visible in the exhibition halls and also reflected in the Chillventa Congress held the day before the fair, as well as in the technical forums during the event.

Many new features at Chillventa 2014 – three premieres in the halls

Trade visitors could also look forward to many innovations related to the trade fair. “We made many improvements around Chillventa in the area of the accompanying professional program to generate a clear added value for our visitors and exhibitors. Just to mention a few: numerous guided tours in cooperation with associations, publishers, technical colleges, including premiere tours, tours for craftsmen and apprentices. Additionally, we had three premieres in the form of special presentations on the topics ‘Heat pumps in commercial and industrial applications,’ ‘Energy-efficient data centers,’ and ‘Energy inspection of air conditioning and ventilation systems.’ All focused on energy efficiency and were very well received, which makes us very happy,” says Alexander Stein.

The key topics summarized

The guiding principle “Chillventa Connecting Experts” is not only lived during the fair but also in the accompanying program. The day before the fair, the Chillventa Congress, led by expert Dr. Rainer Jakobs, was successfully held.

The conference on the day before the event provided over 250 participants with extensive and highly qualified information. The international refrigeration industry, under the banner of the energy transition, was the central theme, along with environmental and climate protection. Professionals from research and practice identified trends, analyzed changing political frameworks, presented the current state of research and development, and showcased forward-looking solutions. The ASHRAE workshop on “Energy Reduction in Data Centers” built on the results of the last Chillventa. Other focal points included: energy of the future, risks and opportunities for refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation, and heat pumps. Additional topics covered markets, challenges, as well as research and development in heat pumps.

Technical forums: Knowledge hub in the halls

In the technical forums on “Education, Standards, and Applications” (Hall 1), “Refrigeration Technology” (Hall 4A), and “Air Conditioning and Heat Pumps” (Hall 7), numerous trade visitors gained comprehensive and targeted insights from over 125 presentations. Many expert lectures conveyed specialized knowledge and offered the opportunity to delve deeper into individual topics. This year, the focus was on: Low-GWP refrigerants, Eco Design guidelines for refrigeration and air conditioning, high-efficiency compressors, potential in heat shifting, and adiabatic cooling with various application examples such as in hotels, gas stations, supermarkets, and non-residential buildings.

A special highlight on the last day of the fair was the visit of Konny Reimann, TV emigrant and installer for refrigeration and air conditioning technology. During a talk show and autograph session, visitors and companies had the chance to meet the friendly new Texan and test his expertise.
