Chillventa is entering its fourth round with great momentum. From October 14 to 16, 2014, it once again transforms the exhibition halls in Nuremberg into the international industry meeting point for the refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation, and heat pump world. "We are very satisfied with the development of Chillventa 2014," explains Alexander Stein, project management. "We will likely reach the 1,000 exhibitors mark for the first time. The technical accompanying program, Chillventa Congressing, takes place as it did in the previous event, on the day before Chillventa, Monday, October 13, 2014, providing expert know-how at the highest level.

Selected Lectures

"Latest Developments in Thermal Storage" is the topic that Dr.-Ing. Karin Rühling from the Chair of Building Energy Technology and Heat Supply, TU Dresden, will present. The "Use of Heat Pumps for Commercial Textile Drying" by Matthias Reich from Miele is another contribution in this area. With the heat pump dryer, a new way emerges to reduce energy consumption and thus drying costs. While heat pump dryers have already gained ground in households, almost completely replacing conventional condenser dryers, the commercial sector still relies on relatively energy-intensive exhaust air dryers despite high energy costs. In refrigeration technology, there is also a lecture by Dipl.-Ing. Petra Janickova from Ipetronik and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Michael Kauffeld from Karlsruhe University, titled "Research Findings with Air as Refrigerant."

The ASERCOM/EPEE Symposium reports on the EU's energy efficiency targets for 2030 and their significance for the industry. An overview of current activities and the achieved status in the field of Ecodesign and associated market surveillance will be presented and discussed. The recently adopted F-Gas Regulation will be discussed regarding initial impacts on international regulations, industry, and users.

Topic Heat Pumps

The heat pump segment provides a worldwide overview of current topics. In addition to market developments in Europe, the USA, China, and Japan, research activities in various countries are highlighted, along with specific research results such as "cold climate," "thermally driven," and "domestic hot water heat pumps."

Innovation Day: Energy of the Future

Under the motto "Energy of the Future – Risks and Opportunities for Refrigeration, Climate, and Heat Pumps," developments for low-GWP refrigerants are showcased, the industry's possibilities within the context of the energy transition are described and discussed, and topics such as storage technologies and heat recovery are examined. The Innovation Day takes place as part of Chillventa Congressing.

ASHRAE offers another course titled "IT Equipment Design Evolution & Data Center Operation Optimization." This highly relevant topic is presented by top specialists from the USA. It highlights current developments in the IT sector to achieve maximum efficiency in cooling.

During Chillventa, there will be a special presentation in Hall 7 on the topic "Energy-efficient Data Centers – Sustainable Solutions for Cooling."
