An excessively high concentration of suspended particles and dust in the environment can impair both the health of employees and the process quality in production or laboratories. An highly effective countermeasure is the use of a high-quality cleanroom mat from Kager. This allows for a significant reduction of particle load in the ambient air right at the entrance area of sensitive zones.

Not least, in light of the bitter experiences from the COVID-19 years, most manufacturing companies have improved their standards for hygiene and health protection at workplaces. Stricter safety regulations and detailed behavioral rules have been introduced in many places, along with dust and particle lock systems, which until now were mainly used in cleanroom and sterile environment technology. Many safety specialists and health officers also recognized that these measures can contribute significantly beyond the climatic improvement of the room air, to quality assurance and process optimization. Especially in production environments where the requirements of technical cleanliness according to VDA 19 and ISO 16232 govern the process, particle lock systems or special clean zones now play an increasingly important role. As an ideal component for their implementation, the static-dissipative and ESD-compatible dust collection floor mats of the SB series have proven effective, offered by the German trade and consulting company Kager. Their use can substantially improve air quality and — as the technical jargon states — reduce the proportion of dispersed solid particles in the environment. The Kager dust collection mat has already demonstrated its effectiveness as a “particle catcher” in numerous cleanroom and laboratory applications in industry and research.

Early protective barrier

The dust collection mat from Kager is made of a high-quality styrene-butadiene mixture. It does not release plasticizers or harmful vinyl chloride, but offers a very adhesive surface that removes even stubborn dust and dirt particles from shoe soles or mobile device wheels. Laying such a mat in an entrance area can thus reduce the risk of uncontrolled particle transfer with minimal effort before people, transport systems, or floor conveyors enter a room.

Kager offers its dust collection mat in standard sizes of 1,200 x 600 mm and 1,000 x 1,000 mm, suitable for most walkways in cleanrooms, research laboratories, or even clinics and doctor’s offices. For installation in particularly long corridors or larger operational areas, there are also ten-meter rolls from which the customer can cut the appropriate segments. Laid like a carpet, the mats adhere non-slip to almost any clean and smooth surface. No pre-treatment of the substrate or special anchoring is necessary. For rough surfaces, Kager recommends gluing the SB mat firmly to prevent warping or slipping.

Easy cleaning

Since the dust collection mat is also available in two different thicknesses, customers can choose: for heavily trafficked zones, a 6.0 mm thick variant; for less frequented walkways, a version with only 3.0 mm thickness. Cleaning can be performed with water and common cleaning and disinfecting agents without affecting the adhesive properties.
