Camfil Germany now sources 100 percent of its energy from regional green electricity – and produces its air filters and air purification systems entirely with local, renewable energy from the sun, wind, and water power. With this, the company continues its strong commitment to responsible business and manufacturing.

Since its founding about 60 years ago, Camfil has fostered an internal sustainability culture, helping its customers operate more sustainably and resource-efficiently with its energy-efficient air filter solutions. It has been a long-standing member of the UN Global Compact, which focuses on the commitment to responsible business practices. The entire company follows and promotes these principles.

With the switch to green electricity, the world’s leading manufacturer of air filters and air purification systems is taking the next decisive step toward sustainability and reaffirming its commitment to reducing CO2 emissions, combating climate change, and limiting global warming.

“An environmentally conscious lifestyle is not just a private matter. Every small adjustment makes a difference when it comes to acting responsibly. And with an enormous electricity demand of 3.4 million kWh at our Reinfeld location alone in 2020, switching to green energy is truly not just a small step for improving our ecological footprint,” says Dirk Leinweber, Director Sales & Marketing of Camfil GmbH. The company continuously scrutinizes all aspects of its actions and implements corresponding changes. For example, since 2021, it has gradually converted its entire fleet to e-mobility and promotes e-bike purchases through initiatives like JobRad. He explains: “Of course, switching to green electricity increases our energy costs, but we can no longer wait for politics to act to stop climate change. Starting now to use TÜV Nord-certified regional green electricity is therefore an important step for us as a company to contribute to improving our CO2 balance.”

The energy transition is part of the Swedish company's sustainable commitment. For maximum transparency, Camfil publishes an annual sustainability report that evaluates progress made and defines new measures and goals to advance its corporate mission – namely, protecting people, processes, and the environment by finding, developing, and delivering solutions that combine clean air with energy efficiency in a sustainable and profitable way.
