CAITRON expands its product portfolio with the CR series for cleanrooms

Touchscreen Industrial PCs (IPCs)

In addition to touchscreen industrial PCs (IPCs) for the hygiene-sensitive areas of pharmaceuticals and food, CAITRON now offers IPCs specifically designed for use in cleanrooms with its CR series. The homogeneously sealed enclosure according to IP69k, as well as the omission of fans and other rotating components, ensure that no particles are stirred up or flow out of the PC into the environment. Smooth surfaces and seamless construction also allow for easy cleaning.

"As a specialist for IPCs in hygiene-sensitive areas, CAITRON has so far focused mainly on the requirements of the food and pharmaceutical industries," says Andreas Hirt, Managing Director of CAITRON GmbH. "With our CS series, we can serve these markets very well. Furthermore, we are increasingly receiving inquiries about the use of our CS-IPCs in cleanroom conditions. These requests have come not only from pharmaceutical manufacturers but also, for example, from interested parties in the ceramics or electronics industries. We have addressed this scenario and implemented it in a dedicated series with the CR series." With the cleanroom IPCs of the CR series, it is possible to optimize production processes by recording and visualizing operational and quality data directly in the cleanroom. Decision-making and communication pathways are shortened, and the risk of production interruptions is reduced.

The models of the CR series feature a homogeneously sealed, IP69K-protected V4A stainless steel enclosure, which, through the use of antistatic materials and completely passive cooling, prevents the release and stirring up of particles. Unlike conventional PCs, this also allows installation above the work surface. The devices completely omit ventilation slots or rotating components. Cleaning is also no problem: The smooth surface of the P-CAP multitouch display and the gap-free, electropolished enclosure are easy to maintain and withstand even aggressive cleaning agents. The IPCs are made exclusively from industrial-grade components, ensuring a high level of reliability to guarantee complete data collection and avoid production downtime.

Thanks to integrated WLAN, Bluetooth, power supply, and a reader module for contactless user authentication, the devices can be easily integrated into existing infrastructure. Employees can operate the cleanroom IPC as simply and intuitively as their smartphones or tablets thanks to multi-finger gesture control supported by the P-CAP multitouch screen — even while wearing gloves. Unlike resistive touchscreens, the P-CAP technology does not experience material fatigue; the user experience remains unchanged due to consistent touch quality even after long periods of use.
